Leveling a TRD Pro? Just new shocks ?

    I guess I'm not understanding why 6112 shocks cannot be purchased without springs. Aren't 6112 pretty much the equivalent of what came on the earlier 5th gen Pro? Doesn't make sense you'd have to replace both, but I could be wrong.

    Yes front and rear leaking already. 99% highway and SoCa city traffic

    I have been looking for newer TRD take offs as well.

    Yes they were stock - but can’t just get shocks apparently gotta get springs too.

    emailed Bilstein with no response yet

    Leveling it a few inches IS lifting it. Whether you're "lifting" or "leveling it", it's still the same work in the front.

    The front is the complicated end to lift, the rear is easy.

    Plus I think if you lift the front a few inches and don't touch the rear, as soon as you have anything in the back it'll be squatted. Being perfectly level is a bad idea, IMO.

    I would buy once cry once, and do the rear as well. But the rear doesn't have to be complicated, you can literally just buy a 1-in spacer for the rear and you'll be all set. You don't necessarily need new coils.

    Maybe look for a new TRD Pro takeoff Fox suspension and leave it at that.

    on the lookout for a TRD pro fox takeoff, the only one I’ve seen this far they were asking $2800 or something ridiculous…

    If that doesn’t pan out I guess it’s going back to reading all of the threads on lift kits… I’m 99% highway driving and date that I had more opportunities to off road. Ride quality, reliability and longevity would be my priorities….

    I just installed 6112/5160 combo. 1.7” in front and b12 1” springs in back. Absolutely love it. You can’t go wrong with this setup. You can get all the parts for well under $2k.

    Do you have a TRD Pro that also came stock with that setup and replaced it with same aftermarket?

    If you liked the way it rode before, I would just do the bilstein 61112s up front with the 5160 reservoirs in the rear. You can order the fronts as assembled coilovers from a few different sources, and you really don't need to replace the springs in the rear, just do a 1-in spacer. Spaces are frowned upon in the front, but they work fine in the rear.

    Or just do the 1.5 inch lift coilover and then leave the rear alone.

    I have nothing to compare the ride to… and in past read long long threads comparing the different lift kits and preferences…

    I might as well lift it now in case
    I actually get to wheel more in future and next time around could consider going up in tire size. But I’d still want to priotize ride and reliability for higheay and not have to do control arms.

    Only getting 80k miles on the highway before the shocks leaking doesn’t give me confidence to replace with Bilstein if I gotta spend a chunk more than i thought. Feel like the finding take offs a new TRDP would be nice but if not have to re-read all the long threads on lifts and compare prices as far as doing bare minimum, look at differences in cost between brands, and also spacer vs new rear springs cost to benefit etc…
