Heat with what? A blow dryer? I’ve got a hot air soldering station. Purchased a new part though, I’d rather it be to spec while the Runner is still in warranty.

Probably damaged in shipping but this is why I just shelled out the cash for one from a local dealer. You’re not missing out anyway. :D

You could more than likely take a plastic dead blow to it.

butane torch. Or lock it in a vice and massage it back as straight as you can get.

It might bend back when you bolt it to the ypipe.

Appreciate everyone’s perspective. Just got back from the weekly Costco run. I might get froggy and try something here in a bit.

Mine was about $800. I had it one for 3 weeks and ditched it. It was up for $650 on FB and everyone was crying about the price. It sold anyway. :bananadance:

Just a hand ratchet will work. Its thin and doesn't take much force to bend the flange.

Welp, went ahead and got a torch and got the flange mostly straightened out. Going to install tomorrow and hope for the best!

One last update for anyone else that may be looking to install the TRD Pro exhaust on a TRD Sport (the reject model of 4Runner ;)) The rear fender has these little under “flare fins” no idea wth they’re actually called, someone else can probably chime in. The little fin piece in the first image, prevents the side entry exhaust from reaching the rear exhaust hanger. Literally by one inch. I just removed the piece on the exhaust size and it fits fine. I’m probably going to cut a nice curve out of the piece and re-install just to put it back on there.

I like the way this thing sounds too. Honestly a subtle change, just throaty. The son (3 year old) enjoyed it on the way home today too. My 2 cents on the infamous “drone”. Happy 4 Running out there.

just wait, you’ll want to blow your brains out in about 3 mo’s from the droning at highway speeds. On Sat im picking up an OEM muffler w/tailpipe with only 12k on it for $250. Cant wait to yank of the TRD pro muffler.

Hahaha thanks. I dig that Trail Edition in Lunar Rock. I had one pre-ordered, then got cold feet, then found my black beauty on a lot without having to pre-order, 7 miles on it. Almost 20k now :burnrubber:

I don't know what others are experiencing but on the highway, my TRD Pro has no drone unless it's under a load such as going uphill at certain engine speeds. It is definitely annoying under those circumstances, but they are only a very small portion of my time on the highway. Most of my time on the highway, the exhaust is not very noticeable and certainly isn't droning.

youre lucky. I’m on the hwy a lot and am always in that 1800-2200 rpm range of constant droning. Around my house i have many hills that create constant droning. My wife and kids started hating it about 5 mos after i bought it. We had the worst time driving 10 hrs to NC (500 miles) last July with a loaded vehicle and cargo hauler on the back. There were times where we couldn’t hear each other talk and my son sitting in the back seat was so annoyed that he wore noise canceling headphones almost the whole way.

When my TRD exhaust tail pipe got crushed and had to put on the OEM muffler was the best thing could have happened. So quite, maybe to quite. I bought my 4runner new (dealership showroom model) with the TRD exhaust already on. My dealership included the OEM muffler just in case I would need it. I am glad they included it for free.

I think I don't get the drone because of having a tune(kdmax). Which the tune really helps increase power at low rpms so there isn't as much load on the engine at low rpms. I could be wrong.

I also have the urd y pipe. That gave it a much deeper rumble. It also helped get rid of the rotten egg exhaust smell.

As I said in another thread, my experience has been that if you do not have a recent year model PRO or if you have a non-pro, you will hear the droning more than if you have a recent year PRO. I am pretty sure Toyota increased the sound proofing/isolation of the recent years Pros that come with the TRD exhaust from factory. In other words, if you have an SR5, ORD, Sport or Limited and you decide to stick a TRD Exhaust there, you will hear considerably more droning than in a recent PRO model year with factory installed exhaust.

I highly doubt that they added more sound proofing or insulation to just the trd pro model. But they may improved it through out the years(in all models). I have no actual proof on that.

Sound/noise is very subjective. And as you age your hearing starts to go. Lol

Hahah this may be it. I work in Bitcoin Mining and am around mining hardware all the time that has high frequency fan sounds roaring. Plus all the loud concerts from back in the day (36). The sound of the exhaust thus far is pretty sweet in my mind. I’ve always had quiet cars, so hearing my ride a little from the cabin is a welcomed change :D
