TPMS Reprogram for Lower PSI

My fault for not understanding that I have SL/P rated (normal) tires and not C rated. I triple checked that and tire pressure settings and these should be run at 31PSI according to tire pressure calculations.

Appreciate everyone’s help and advice. Especially @djwantke for helping below. This was my first time altering tire size on a vehicle and a learning experience.

For my 21 4R I was able to reset TPMS via menu - vehicle settings - TPWS - reset. That cleared the light.

 

hey buddy, so I believe all the good looking, cool Mickey Thompson folks on here debunked the low psi calculations and are running average 34-38 psi

 

what are TPMS's and multi information display ? LOL

^This. "Initialization" process is outlined in the owner's manual. I have mine set to not go off unless pressure falls below 25 psi.

 

Cool beans @djwankte. Maybe I’m overthinking it. MT site says max at 44PSI. So 26-28 can’t possibly be correct (as you’re saying). The outside inch of my tires at 34 seem very clean (as if not getting as dirty). Maybe that’s just how they’re shaped and I’m misunderstanding that as not touching the asphalt. Does that make sense?

 

I checked it all again and you’re 100% spot on. The SL is normal load and should be around 34. I guess it’s just that the edge of the tire about an inch doesn’t seem to touch as much or get dirty. So I thought that was crowning. I’ll try inflate to 34 and try again and bug chalk for a test. Could just be my tire is dirty and I need the chalk to see.

 

Nice work man, I'm very interested in dialing in this psi for sl and lt. I've never done a chalk test, never googled it, but I've thought about googling it lol

 

Haha. Me too. Toss some chalk powder down and drive over it see if it hits the entire width of the tire
