Before I retired as a heavy equipment operator, the county that I worked for bought some John Deere motor graders that were "hooked"
to what they called, JDLink. Some kind of satellite linking system that communicated with those graders.
Short story is that one night during a snow storm while clearing roads, all 4 graders died on the spot. And because of the hydrostatic drives systems, they couldn't be easily towed to the side of the road. But we eventually had to use 2 Cat loaders, a 966 & 972, to drag them out of the driving lanes. After about 6 hours of down times, the techs at JD finally figured out their glitch.
Middle and upper "mis" management boys & girls were pissed. Us operators just laughed and said, shoulda stuck with Cats.

And I think, currently, that farmers, ranchers and construction companies are still having difficulties in accessing JDLink to maintain and repair their own equipment.

Sorry, not really anything to do with this thread.

There was a lawsuit (right to repair lawsuit) on being able to work on your own equipment. My brother-in-law is a Pecan Farmer and went through this. Not a company but I've been hearing about a mandate they are pushing on cars in a few years where they can limit your speed to 10 miles over the posted speed limit through software. Not that it will affect 4Runner owners, but I can barely go 10 miles over the speed limit in mine going down a hill. ;)
