    Hi,

I installed Raptor lights on my truck a few weeks ago. I plugged it into the fuse box, per the installation video, and they just stay on.

Should I be using a different fuse, so that they turn off? If so, which one?fuse.jpg

I dont have KDSS but have a fuse in the spot (10amp) so I just used that. Works as designed (on/off with ignition).

I'm installing my fang lights next weekend and need to use the INJ fuse inside the engine for those.

I tried using the INJ fuse slot but my 4R wont start after that. Had to remove and put back the 10A fuse so 4R can start maybe thats just an issue I'm having.

No need. Theres a pre-existing hole in your firewall with a rubber plug on the firewall by the brake booster that goes RIGHT near the underdash fuse panel.

I took the rubber plug and with an x-acto knife, carefully cut a hole it in so the wire for my Raptor lights would go through it. Then, reinstalled the rubber plug.

Sounds like you just pulled the original 10A fuse and plugged your lights into that socket without using an add-a-fuse tap. I originally installed my Raptor lights using the tap and all was fine.

All this heeing and hawing over the fuses, but if you dont have KDSS, just use that fuse ((shrugs)). Why mess with a fuse that if it pops, will disable your truck?

I used the add a fuse that came with the raptor lights and placed it in the IJN port. Works fine while the 4R is off. Problem was the engine won’t crank. Like I said maybe it’s me. If anyone has a solution where I don’t have to go to the drivers fuse box I’m all ears.

True, one can do that as well but an add-a-fuse is a common method and is a component that quite a few 3rd party manufacturers include in their kits. Adding one does not hamper the original circuit that it is attached to. As an FYI here's a schematic diagram illustrating how it manipulates the original circuit that it is attached to.

I appreciate that, but clearly its affecting some owners perhaps by user error, but nonetheless.
Again, the KDSS fuse is present and B+ even if you dont have KDSS. Just sayin'

*had to fix a typo in my diagram...brain fart, I typed in IGN1 instead of INJ based upon a failing memory. Went out and popped open the main fuse box and realized my mistake.

Here is where I had my Raptor lights originally connected into the main engine bay fuse box, locations marked with a little red box.
    Mainfusebox.jpg

So with all things equal, I am wondering if there could be a mixup with the fuses when inserted into the add-a-fuse block? My add-a-fuse came with a 'little' 1A fuse and the INJ is a 10A...if they were accidentally swapped I'm pretty sure the 1A would pop the moment the Injector circuit is energized.

Ahhh I went to the under dash fusebox. My underhood fusebox lid would not shut with the add-a-fuse (albeit a "mini low profile" one too), and I couldn't live with that.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. Good thing I already had plans to change over to an 8-channel DC controller so I only had to live with that set-up for a short while.

The Raptor lights I installed (Seven Sparta) came with everything, including the fuse tap. I didn't want to mess with going thru the firewall (altho it's easy like has been mentioned), so I used the fuse tap into one of the headlight low beam locations (I only wanted them on when the headlights were on). I routed the wire as shown, and cut a slot in the fuse box lid so it would close. If you run a fuse tap to the underdash fuse box, you won't be able to use the cover at all.

Ya no the Search feature is temperamental, like sometimes it comes up with nothing when you know you've used that key-word before.
But, the website folks here will answer all the questions, it's a great resource.
