I had to replace the touchscreen on my N2 navigation system, and, after reinstalling it all the screen has vertical lines on it, and nothing else.

    what does this mean

Uh oh. This is not good.
Did you have the truck's battery disconnected when performing the removal and installation?
If so, then you might have to disassemble far enough to check all of the electrical connections to make sure they are completely secure.
If the truck battery was still connected when removing and installing, well that could be a different story - the head unit could possibly have been damaged.

I did not disconnect the battery. I’m wondering if the tiny gold ribbon that is connected to the touchscreen has come loose or perhaps connected upside down

    Would that cause the issue?

That is possible if connected upside down. Normally, connections are manufactured so that it is not possible to connect the wrong way, but I have not had one of these removed myself, so I can't say for sure.

If it is possible to connect upside down, then it might damage the unit if it is and power is applied.

One should always disconnect the battery when doing electrical work of any kind. Just because your truck is off and the key is removed does not mean all systems are not powered. There are many systems on the truck that remain powered with the truck switched off.

That is a possibility as well. What cleaning solution was used?

Baby shampoo and water was used to apply a screen protector and some dripped onto the touchscreen, but I thought I had wiped it away fast enough

I guess it would depend on how long the screen would have had a chance to dry before it was turned on? If it had a chance to dry overnight, it should be okay.

Welcome. More than likely it is a communication issue between the screen and its controller. Try a hard reset of the head unit or disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. Doing this will reset most software issues.

It's your digitizer connector. Reseat the display cable.

Probably... It looks like bad connection to me.
