    Hello all "Yota folks!
I'm a former Tundra TSS owner (2013) and should have never sold it.
I'm Travis. Me and my wife just bought 2 4Runners and I'm excited to get going with them....

    Hers is a 2021 SR5 4WD (totally stock)
    Mine is a 2017 Limited 4WD (3" lift/ 32" tires)

My FIRST QUESTION IS FOR HER'S...What is the biggest tire size I can put on hers without lifting or leveling?? This will get me into some better looking rims that we'll use later when I do lift/level it for larger tires.

Biggest tire size without rubbing is the stock 265/70-17 (32") on the stock +15mm offset wheel. If you find some 4th gen +30mm offset wheels, you should be able to clear 255/80-17 (33"), but the stance will be narrower.

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

Lift alone doesn't clear tires. It only hides the rubbing. The possible exception is a body lift.

Lift will not help. Choosing the appropriate tire size and wheel offset will. 285/70R17 with +4 to 0 offset seems to be the sweet spot for minimal rubbing.

Can you explain/help me understand the "+4 to 0 offset" and how do I shop for this in a search?

Even when staying with stock size, just changing from the factory tire to an all terrain (which generally have a wider tread) will change the look considerably. I kept the same size yet when from a 31.6" to a 31.9" tall tire but the wider tread makes them look even bigger. Here's before and after pictures...

Same 4R that my wife has essentially, that all I'm trying to do right now. I found some 265/75r16, on aftermarket rims and Just want the better look for now. Will use the same rims on bigger tires once a lift is installed.

Thanks for the pics. very helpful to get a visual.

Lower positive and higher negative offset values represented in mm pushes the wheel further out, creating a larger sweep radius that can introduce interference/rubbing. Any wheels you are shopping for should indicate offset.

+1, here’s my rig with stock size tires. I had a 3/2 lift with 285’s and it was no more capable than it is now with 265’s.

The factory 17s and 20s have a 15mm offset. So, if I'm understanding correctly, going to 285/70/17s (32.7"), on factory wheels, even with a 2-1 lift, the tires will rub the plastic fender liner. And the fix is to cut, drill two new holes, move in 1"... is this accurate?

Because Im an old Marine, Im going to ask for this to be broke down shotgun style...Given the above video, what is the largest tire size on a 17" rim that will fit and not rub??

Im guessing a 275/70/17 (32.16")? & if trying to go 285/70/17 it will become questionable??

I think even then it will depend on the rim width/offset and tire design but I'll let others chime in.

Consider the wheel you like. Best fitment comes from POSITIVE offset wheels. 33's will fit in the wheel well fine, it's the wheel poke that kills the deal.

I forgot to mention welcome to the forum! I'm moving to AZ in a few months!

Edit: With respect to the author, I'd question a lot of the article's advice - Caveat Emptor
