I'm trying to close the deal on a new 2024 and am curious of what discounts off MSRP people have been getting.

I've been shopping too. Best I have gotten is $3100. Some are still sticking at MSRP.

Welcome. The deal is going to depend on your location and willingness to travel. Some dealers are selling at invoice and that is about $4k-$4.5k off of sticker.

This about what I figured. I've got them down about 2500 off MSRP. The truck has all of the options I want in the color I want. It's hard to not pull the trigger, but if I could get 4k that would be hard to pass up too.

What does the sticker price of an ORP look like nowadays? I think I got around 4k off sticker but those were pre-pandemic and pre-electronic gizmo (TSS) days. Good to see prices are now at least BELOW the MSRP and not over for "market corrections" or whatever BS dealers were pushing the past few years

In 2018, a ORP was about $38,000 in my area. Things have certainly gone up.

It looks like a 2024 ORP with the moonroof and premium MTM package is $50K before TTL. I got my 2023 ORP at MSRP last April but the price then was ~$48K.

I think if there is a $3K+ markdown then its a good deal.

I see some 2024's ORP here in Detroit area discounted $2500 - $3100 off MSRP - saw a solar Octane with $2600 discount - guess it depends on how long it been on their lot and color.

Look for leftover 23 with better deals. Nothing has changed, but new added color, underground and solar octane. I got my new 23 TRDORP here NorCal for $44500

My ORP had a MSRP of 54629 I got it for 51500. Some dealerships are charging 5K above the msrp for the pro in SETX

Mine is in the new Underground color. None available in 3 states that dealerships wanted to let go. Also heard its harder for dealerships to swap due to more 4R sold the more LC you are allotted

Thanks for everyone who responded. I want KDSS on mine so that's making my selection more limited. None of my local state dealers have any with KDSS in stock so I have to shop out of state. I think I'm trying to convince myself that 2500 of MSRP is good enough. Maybe I should say convince my wife. I've been waiting since the COVID price craziness and have waited this long that I don't want to rush, but I also don't want to gamble that I will be able to find the vehicle with all the features I want at a better price later.

Consider anything below MSRP a win, given your specific wants and desires on an ORP. My daughter traded in her '22 Tacoma SR5 on a '23 4R TRD ORP, no KDSS, in Lunar Rock (trim level and color were must haves), paid MSRP. I got my '23 4R Limited below MSRP because it was sitting on the lot for a few months (magnetic gray metallic with redwood interior). This same dealer sold two '23 Corolla GRs, each one was marked up $20K! If you found the one that checks all the boxes, and if you can get it at MSRP or lower, consider it a win...

Being in the Midwest it will be tough finding something with KDSS. Something weird with that region’s allocations. If it’s a true $2500 off MSRP and no garbage dealer add ons, then go for it. The deal is only as good as you feel about it. It sounds like this one has everything you want and your willingness to get some advice on the forums shows that you’re not just jumping into it.

Wow the discounts are higher than I’d expect on 24 ORP. I was looking at a 24 SR5P and they will only knock off $1k.

I got $2,500 off my 24 TRD ORP sticker (non KDSS). It is Solar Octane, which seem harder to find. I waited almost two months. I took the deal and ran.

For those of you not able to get at least $3k off msrp, what region are you in?

If you're already willing to shop out of state, it might be time to consider using a broker.

Alternatively, if you're willing to travel I don't mind sharing my dealer's contact information via PM. When I picked up my Lunar Rock ORP last year they mentioned that it wasn't uncommon for people to fly in and for them to pick them up at the airport.

I've learned from getting my wife's '23 RAV4 XLE in Lunar Rock that Toyota has some pretty weird ordering / distribution schemes depending on the region. Originally, we wanted to get a RAV4 TRD in Army Green. Went to the local dealer, they had none on the lot, and none on the current "allotment". Seems they get "allotments" once a month, and they (the dealer) have no idea what Toyota is going to have available. I watched a good Youtube video made by a sales person in the western part of NC, trying to explain Toyota's weird ordering and distribution scheme. It was eye-opening to say the least. We had a deposit down on the RAV4 TRD in Army Green, but after waiting thru several cycles of allotments, nothing was available. So we started looking for an XLE AWD (non-hybrid) in Lunar Rock, and found one in VA (which is in a different region than NC). We ended up buying it in VA and having them register it in NC. That's how I ended up with my '23 4R Limited as well, found one in VA that was willing to deal (wanted blue or met gray with the redwood interior), nothing available near the house in NC (w/in 100 miles).

Unlike other manufacturers, Toyota does not allow their dealers (regardless of which distributor supplies that particular region) to order new vehicles directly. My understanding is that dealers can request certain allocations based on a multitude of factors but that only gives them a better chance at receiving what they requested, it's not a guarantee that they will actually get the vehicles.

The ones sticking to MSRP are just sitting on lots around here. The ones at $3K or more seem to last a month or so. One dealer just listed a Pro at sticker yesterday. I'm curious to see how long it sits. It was supposed to be pre sold but the guy never got it.

This is exactly my situation as well. I decided to pull the trigger. Mine is Solar Octane, with KDSS, moonroof, and MTM. I also got 2500 of MSRP. This was located around 450 miles from my house.

Thanks to everyone who posted their thoughts or experiences.

Now I just need to try and stay patient until it arrives at the dealer.

Also factor in your time. Look at how long you've waited already, and how much time you've spent looking.

I totally get the idea of wanting the best deal you can get, but at the end of the day is 1,500 on a 50k vehicle that big a deal?

Is all the time spent waiting and searching and not driving a new 4Runner worth a few bucks a month? The fact that you're getting ANYTHING off MSRP is a win considering the madness of even a year ago.

To me, a few bucks isn't worth stressing over if the vehicle in question ticks all the boxes.

    Just my .02.
