I wanted to share a review if the Valvomax making oil changes easier. I have the Fumoto on the 4runner and like it. Just did the 1000 mile break in oil change on the IS500 and went with the Valvomax. Steel construction and lack of a lever seems superior to me. Not worth replacing the Fumoto but I would choose the Valvomax owning both.

I like the extra seal that it has via the screw-on cap. Would love to hear if anyone else is using one of these on a Gen 5 Runner.

I agree. Never had a problem with the Fumoto but the screw on cap is a nice extra failsafe.

Seeing a post of the brass shearing is what triggered me to try the Valvomax and stainless steel construction. Either of them are so much easier than the mess of drain bolt.

I have had the Valvomax on my both of my 4Runners and Tundra and have had zero issues with either one.
"My" choice was ultimately decided after working with Family members that have been using this on their farm equipment. The cap is also an added bonus IMO.

    Valvomax for 4+ years.

To install, remove the Valvomax external rubber o-ring tether and dust cap, use a deep 24mm socket to torque at 16-18 ft-lbs. Then re-install the o-ring and tether/cap). Also, they supply a metal gasket to use instead of the typical OEM fiber one.

Wife gave me a Valvomax for Christmas. I'll be putting it on the next oil change in about 1000 miles.

Thanks for the thread about the Valvomax. I just ordered one and also ordered a spare drain tube assembly. I got it directly from Valvomax which was $5 less than on Amazon.

Mine is on the way. Looking forward to getting it installed when I change the oil for the first time!

Are there any issues with galvanic corrosion using either the stainless steel or brass?

Yes but extremely minuscule levels. Many oil drain plugs are made of stainless steel. Also, it's not uncommon for drain plug crush washers to be made of aluminum or copper. Any of these different metals create a cathode and an anode which creates galvanic reactions. It's just so slight in this kind of application that it's a non issue.

    Thank you!

What about with the brass Fumoto?

Also taking into consideration that these won’t be removed at intervals like a regular drain plug would?

I think it's safe to say, you'll never have a corrosion issue with the Fumoto either.
