Hello- I recently bought an SR5 97 4Runner with the factory alarm. I am installing a new deck, replacing the speakers, and getting a backup camera. This weekend, I went to lock the door and the alarm sound stayed on for a few seconds. I will refer to the Owners Manual, but was wondering if I should go ahead and add an aftermarket security the same time......
    Thanks for any input!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Since you're putting nice shiny new stuff in your truck to upgrade it, you should probably upgrade the alarm too. But remember, the best thing you can do to protect your vehicle and it's contents is to lock it, set the alarm and park it in a garage every night.

P.S. Show us pictures of your ride!

I wouldn’t. The aftermarket ones often cause problems.

I don’t think car alarms are super effective, most people will ignore them anyway.
