So my driver side turn signal went out. I went to parts store and got 1156A bulb. The one I took out was 1156NA bulb....now the issue the 1156A bulb is to big the socket to go back in the headlight assembly. Are 1157NA bulb smaller in diameter?

Just making sure I understand: you have one 1156A that fits (old and dead) and one that doesn't (newly purchased). Are they visibly different? Are you physically able to put the old one back in?

1157na fits but blown. 1156A which Autozone showed for my vehicle will not fit into headlight assembly. They look identical but I have no way to measure the bulb diameter

OK, I think there's a typo in your original post:
Anyhow, if they look identical, I'd try re-inserting the dead one just to see if you have the same difficulty. There could be some installation trick that isn't obvious.

Finally got around to see what was going on with the bulb. Apparently the opening in the headlight assembly melted and the opening was no longer round but D shape. So I had to open it up to get the new bulb in. Thankfully it was the opening the bulb socket fit into. New bulb in a so far no issues
