Backed up into an iron bench while parking.
Bumper scrapped, chrome trim piece cracked and a 8 inch dent in the tail gate. A very costly 400USD mistake.
Got some PDR done on the tail gate dent and replaced the chrome trim with a brand new piece. While there, fluid filmed the rear bumper. Of course broke a few plastic tabs in the process but overall not to bad.
The chrome trim price is really held on by no less than 7, 8 push type plastic retainers. That thing is really solidly installed. Now just a little bumper scrape left which I can live with.

3 inch RC lift kit, 17X9 RC 0 offset wheels, Faulkin Wilderpeak 285/70/17s, Tyger rack system, rear splash guard delete, TRD pro grill and more to come...
Did a bunch! Added TRD pro grill, raptor lights, Tufskinz door appliques, Lamin-X yellow fog light covers, AVS low profile vent visors, fog light fangz, SR5 Offroad decal on front bumper (for more horse power).

Had a couple Diode Dynamics HP5's laying around yesterday so I installed them in as puddle lights. Big upgrade in light output. I also installed the Meso hatch lights but I have no good pictures; Very happy about the red light option. I've noticed red lighting attracts far fewer bugs when camping.

How did the install go? I have both lights to go in. Have not tackled it yet. Little nervous taking the mirrors apart.

Pretty easy honestly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-GcmrFhp3E I followed this guys tutorial.
Only advice is go slow and don't rush it. The clips on the mirror are beefy and take a lot of force to get everything to come apart

Edit: The more work I do on my 4Runner interior the more I realize how Toyota is leaning heavily on plastic tabs and clips. Very little hardware holds these panels together. This is great when the vehicle is new, but in 10 years I have a feeling these tabs will completely disintegrate upon disassembly :crapstorm:

Yup, I put a hitch with a 2" ball on mine the day I got it, and got a hitch with a D-ring for my daughter's TRD ORP. If a car runs into the back of us, that's the first thing they're going to hit.

Had something similar happen to me when I had a Discovery. Had to stop suddenly because of traffic, guy behind me in a Honda sedan wasn't paying attention, hit the hitch going about 30 mph. I ended up with some scratches on the bumper, but his car was totaled. The hitch hit just above his bumper, pushed everything back a good distance, crumpled his hood, broke his radiator, coolant everywhere, etc. His airbags didn't deploy because the sensors were below the point of impact, but his car was toast.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

So far, never. I'm very mindful of it when loading/unloading something out of the back or walking by it. It does help with road ragers/tailgaters though! The other day I had someone come up behind me in traffic. I was in the far right lane (because I drive slow) and the car kept getting closer and closer to my bumper. Then they (I think?) saw the big ass hook hanging off the back.

They dropped backed and stopped riding my ass. It's a great deterrent.

Oh, for the record. I didn't speed up or slow down when they were road raging. I just kept doing my thing and ignored them, for the most part.

I had just a tow hook in mine and hit my shin 3 times and decided I just couldn't keep it there! But I like your setup in Denver we have a lot of RR's now with the influx from other states and would love to have something like this to detour them.

My hitch skid does not stick out to far and don't really want to test the impact, anything attached to the hitch will damage something in the rear. I use mine for a step, chair, bottle opener, and small bump protection when someone parks to close to the bumper.

My favorite little mod. Didn't like the bright silver logo in the steering wheel. Ordered an overlay they said was bronze but came more gold. Found a can of spray paint. 2 squirts and it comes out real close to matching the 40th Bronze. 20240208_111410.jpg

Thanks! Looking at a few different options, they're about the same price around $230 without lights.

Had the afternoon off so decided to tackle the front and rear diffs and transfer case. Drained, new crush washers, filled, torqued to specs! Mobil1 synthetic 75W-90 in the diffs and Ravenol SAE75W (Toyota Equiv) in the transfer case!
