Exhaust moved to the left side would certainly seem to indicate the new 4cyl Toyota product.

That was expected tho. We all knew it would have the same exact Taco powertrain.

I wonder if they'll use the same headlights as the Taco; kinda how they did the Tundra and Sequoia.

Called my dealer and got on a list. In fact they did not have one for the 6th gen yet and just started it today.
Sales guy mentioned it would take after the TACO in regards to looks.
I am planning to get the GX550 this spring and if the 4runner is to my liking switch over to the 6th gen in early 2025 (assuming that delivery timeline)

Yeah the turbo 4 hybrid should be great. Ride quality way up as well. Hopefully, we get 25-27 MPG on the new platform.

I saw somewhere that the Canadian government said the new Taco got 26 MPG... and that's assuming they're referring to the hybrid. 26 MPG is effing good for these vehicles!

Haha, yeah! It looks just like a 5th Gen in a babooshka. Not a huge difference. And the taillights look very similar to 5th Gen not Taco.

I was planning to do a 2 year lease with the GX550 but now with what seems to finally be movement on the 6th gen, I will probably purchase the GX since IMO it will hold it's value strong the first 12 to 18 months until inventories fill up. Full disclosure, the company I work for reimburses me for mileage so other than insurance it is a wash for me thankfully. I was on a Lexus LX list in Dec of 2021 (was like 50th in line)..waited 10 months and never got a car and I ended up rolling over the deposit to a GX550 in Oct. of 2022 so I will be in the first wave of GX550 at this dealership.

Not that it matters to me, but this basically confirms the 2024 5th gen is the last 5th gen and last time we'll see the 1GR-FE. I think used 5th gen prices will go through the roof!

For that to happen I think several things must happen: 1. new engine has troubles early on 2. production moves to japan 3. dealer price / toyota price is too high. It did happen with tundra but they have major issues right out the gate. I am not sure its a given, it would happen with 4R.

Isn't the same 4-cylinder turbo and hybrid being used already in the Grand Highlander? I don't think there have been any issues as far as I know. BUT, production will move to Mexico, at least what TFL said and you know damn well the dealers will mark up the shit out of it at least first year.

I think the opposite actually - and envision a glut of used 5th gen units as the 6th gen becomes available and people trade into them.

I am actually planning on checking out the 6th gen with intent to buy, but if it isn't up to snuff, then I would buy a 24 used or NOS 5th gen. The fact that it is or isn't NA and 5 speed auto don't really enter into my personal equation, it's more about size, interior comfort, off roadability, and how it fits into my other use requirements such as sleeping inside and so on. If it's a better vehicle I'll buy the 6th gen and if it's not I'll buy a 5th gen. I would expect either to be a lifetime vehicle.

If the Taco will be our baseline, I think the 6th gen will be a knock out. All of the journalists that have done initial reviews of the new Taco they all say it's super comfortable and the tech is all good.
