GPS they know how to quickly disable it if they decide to drive it to port, but usually they quickly stick it in a container at the nearest rail yard, which blocks it at that point.

 

As far as interior quality was concerned, the LX570 I sat in felt much nicer than the x7 and the Q8 but Yes, the GLS felt a step above. Same with the LS compared to the BMW7 or A8. The S is in a league of its own.

Pass. It's a GX that somehow has an even worse looking grill. And, as appealing as the torque and efficiency of a diesel are, the stink is not my cup of tea.

 

Saw this one at Overland Expo Mountain West last August. It had quite the presence in person and I'm sure folks will be making some great rigs out of them.

Very curious to see what the aftermarket provides as the years progress as well. Given the following the GX460 has gained over recent years, I have no doubt the owners will gravitate over. It puts off a slight soccer mom vibe stock, but so does the current 460.

May consider one down the road once the first owner takes the brunt of the depreciation curve.

 

I had the old LC200, a 2009 model for about 7 years. It came with a 4.5 lt V8 diesel engine. I cannot recall a single day when there was a diesel stink inside the cabin or outside standing next to a running car. The only tell tale sign was that low rpm clutter that diesel motors exhibit. Other than that, the engine was a gem.
PS: Infact the 4runner is my first petrol powered SUV ever. I have only owned diesel SUVs before this.
I also very briefly( few weeks) had the 5 lt V10 VW Toureg diesel. It was sublime. Was around 6000 pounds but other cars were quite shocked at traffic lights when I would pin the throttle. Diesel engines have this endless wave of torque from practically stationary rpm that no petrol could ever match.

 

It is the Prado. Expect ARB to give you the lift kit very soon. 285/75s or maybe full 35s. 10 inches of ground clearance will be solid for this class.

 

Yeah, modern diesels especially those used in SUVs are pretty clean, it's nothing like a 5.9 Cummins or 6.0 Powerstroke of the old days.

That and the manual, with those two options I don't care what grill it has.

 

That much steel will be more than enough, and you are not cutting a beautiful truck.

 

Rented one for a week while vacationing in Costa Rica, left hand drive. The diesel is dog slow for an almost 5000 lb SUV. Lack of engine braking (because diesel) also made the mountain descents unnerving, though I understand newer years come with an exhaust brake now. I'd rather have the 3.5L Tacoma V6 than this diesel.

The rear window not rolling down sucks. The LC200 didn't have that either if I remember it right. If they weren't going to make it a drop down tailgate they should have at least given it a power rear window. Toyota hasn't done a drop down tail gate with a power rear window since the 2nd gen, I assume because Toyota is afraid to rely on a power window motor to enable the door to be opened.

I don't mean to sound like a curmudgeon but rear hatch design peaked in the 70's or 80's. These bad boys could not only be a tailgate, but they could also open sideways like a regular door, and had a power window. The American brands shouldn't have given it up, it was uniquely American and useful.

When I first saw the R1S and the flat back glass I thought that finally a company had reintroduced this feature, but no they totally wasted the opportunity to do something unique (apart from the 4runner having it). I imagine the dog owners would love it.
