    Hey guys.

Looking for some guidance/advice on how to achieve a wider stance. I’ve read quite a bit on the topic but it’s still a little bit confusing to me..

I have 2018 sr5 4Runner. I’m currently have 285/70/17 falken wildpeak a/t and i have nitro 3inch leveling kit 65210k with TRD wheels. I will post a photo for reference.

so my understanding is the wheels and setup I’m running now is +4mm offset.

I’m trying to achieve a little wider stance … only for aesthetic reasons because I like how it looks… I’d like to the tires to stick out about 1inch and I’m wondering if spidertrax spacers would be the way to go? But what size? And if I do this - do I need to replace the UCAs?

my rig is basically a pavement princess and doesn’t see much off-roading …

im also trying not to modify or cut on the truck as much as possible… I know this may be an issue for what I’m wanting to do. If I have to it’s not a huge deal just trying to avoid it if at all possible.

For the record I have done zero mods to the truck other than the lift and tires.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Before you add SpiderTrax or any type of spacers, watch this video to hear the pro's and the con's of doing it:

But you will need to do a BMC (Body Mount Chop), so you don't rub.

1.25" spidertrax spacers would give you a negative 27 offset which is almost an inch more. You will have to move the fenders and cut the plastic cover also probably do a BMC. It is the scrub radius (arc the wheel makes when in a turn) that leads to the rubbing. It will look sick though.

As you’ve stated, more poke equals more trimming / or alignment tuning.

Spacers are the cheapest way to accomplish this but they need to be hub centric. Spidertrax will fit the bill. They require care and should be torqued when you rotate the tires. Some people take issue with spacers but I think the brand and torquing are what’s important.

If the thought of a wheel peeling off your axle gives you the willys, go for a wheel with a more negative offset. So if you’re at +4 now, to poke an inch more, shoot for something around -20mm.

You may rub some but you can trim plastic to address some of it. Tuning caster may be enough to clear the body mount, at least for street use. A UCA might be counter productive because when the aftermarket UCA regains caster it can pull the wheel back into the body mount. YMMV.

    Good luck!

    @chan2018
@nova and the guys are absolutely correct.
Either add 1.25" Spidertrax, or buy new wheels with high negative offset.
4 Spidertrax are a lot cheaper than 4 wheels. I really like my wheels. They are 0 offset, 9" wide Mickey Thompsons, with 285/70's. So I opted for spacers.

When it comes to negative side effects, the video above ignores these. There is added stress that spacers will put on your front end components (bearings, CV's, rods, wheel studs, whatever). It is true that 0 offset plays nicer with your 4R longevity, but I haven't had any direct issues from the spacers. Been a year or two.

I do have aftermarket UCA's and 3/2 suspension lift with all new lift springs/shocks.
I did have to cut a sliver off the bottom of the front bumper cover in front of wheel.
I did use red Loctite fastening the spacers to the factory studs. Then I could not turn back lol
So I absolutely did need a BMC and got one.
I went a few steps past that with more chopping and cutting and hammering and welding. But that's particularly cuz I have 9" wide wheels, which with spacers equals -32 offset, and I wanted to be able to fit 35's when I eventually lose my marbles and upsize :D
    Goodluck
See photos, hope this all helps ya

I was considering the same. I wish some on the 4runner forums would understand and accept that not every 4runner is rock climbing, off-roading, or trail riding. It's okay for a parking lot cruiser to look good. Mine does very minor off-roading but I wouldn't make fun of someone that gets upset if one spec of dust gets on his/her vehicle. I also wouldn't get angry at someone demolishing their beautiful 4runner rock crawling. Who cares! If you own a 4runner, you are smart; Whether its for the looks, cruising, camping, trail riding, mudding or climbing Mt. Everest. Now, back to the point. I agree, if this is not doing any major off-roading, Spider Trax is the way to go. Rock on and make your 4Runner look bad-ass!!! :headbang:

I think most people are pretty chill, I hope everyone feels comfortable posting. You are correct that 4Runners are a blast to own, modify and make it your personal build.

These guys get it ^ nice dudes
I've had some people message me mindboggled and legit upset that I've scratched (especially driving through prickle bushes), dented, lifted, modded, chopped, and cut my 4R I bought so nice new and stock. Particularly a lot negative comments about exorbitant number of decals too. How dare I stick to the body paint!
