Roof racks

HI. I have a 2023 pro and would like to switch out the stock racks that came with it. I guess the best way to describe them would be they look like a"camels back." It has become a little stressful parking in structures as it barely clears the alotted space and don't have much use for them. I was thinking on just replacing with standard rails. I saw some the 4 runner lifestyle website but don't think they are oem. Will these work? Also, removing the stock racks does not look straight forward. saw a video where they used a torch to loosen the bolts. should I have dealer replace? body shop? or try it myself with your advice? I am new to this forum and any help would be appreciated

Welcome. I like my Pro rack. I have the same fear when driving in parking garages but haven't hit one yet. Going with a lower profile rack will help with those fears. Search the forums for someone who is selling their OEM rack. The installation is pretty straightforward.

 

I hear ya. For this reason, I just wrote our roof rack clearance height with erasable marker on the inside windshield for the wife.

Ya maybe don't try the torch yourself, that sounds too risky for me. But I have heard of the bolts being tight, maybe even some sort of Loctite applied if I remember correctly.
