New TRD owner. So I did a search and couldn’t find any threads on this.

When I do a remote start, the engine shuts down when I open one of the doors and then I have to restart the engine. This makes no sense whatsoever. Is this by design?

I think it's a security measure so thieves won't be able to use coat hanger to open door and steal your car when engine is running.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Yes, this is 100% by design. We all agree it doesn't make sense and we don't like it.

P.S. Show us pictures of your new ride!

Yeah, that makes sense. Don’t know why they just couldn’t figure out that a door opening without key fob could disable the engine instead. Pretty stupid.

Yep, it's the nature of Toyota + push start + remote start. I saw someone talking about some company figuring out a way around it but it was just in the past day or so, so hopefully that bears fruit.

Meh. Minor inconvenience. Chances are it's on a timer too, and it will only run for 15 minutes. Mine is anyway.
