I just bought a 24 4Runner Limited. It came without running boards. Can someone recommend something of quality for a decent price or should I just buy from Toyota?

Thank you in advance and it's nice to be here...

Check your local Facebook marketplace, etc. - Plenty of people remove them when they install sliders as part of preparing a rig for off-road usage.

    They don't fit a Limited.

Limited requires a special part that has longer arms.

Since you purchased the limited I would just get the ones that are for that model from Toyota. There are a few options out there but if you don’t have any build plans to make it an off-road warrior or have specific requirements stick with OEM and forget about it.

Welcome. I've got a 2023 4Runner Limited - so looked at all the stuff your thinking about a year ago when I got my 4Runner. I had Toyota running boards installed on my 4Runner a couple of weeks after I bought it. There are two choices when it comes to Toyota OEM running boards that will fit the Limited. The Limited has an extra trim panel below the doors that the other trim levels do not have. This requires special longer running board mounting brackets in order to get the running boards below this extra trim panel. Toyota p/n PT925-89110 is the normal Limited running board kit - black running boards with black rubber surface on the top. Edge of the running board has a chrome detail on it. PT925-89190 is the p/n for the Nightshade version of the Limited running board kit. Running boards look and fit identical - only difference is the Nightshade version are all black - no chrome strip on the edge of the running board - same black rubber surface on the top of the running boards. I had the Nightshade version of the Limited running boards installed on my 2023 Limited - just liked how they looked better. I can also tell you that both of these Limited running board kits are compatible with Toyota OEM mudguard kit PT769-89110 - they can be installed without interference with these mudguards - I have had the PT925-89190 Nightshade running boards and the PT769-89110 mudguards on my 2023 Limited for about a year with no issues. I originally wanted something like the Toyota Trail running boards - I had these on the Tacoma I had before the 4Runner and I liked them. Toyota doesn't offer a Trail running board with the Limited compatible longer mounting brackets. However, after getting the Limited Nightshade running boards installed I discovered I liked them better. The Limited running boards both have a grippy/rubbery material on the surface you step on. The Trail running boards are covered in a more slick plastic material. I never had an issue with the Trail boards on my Tacoma - but I do prefer the non-slip rubber material on the Limited boards.

I also recently purchased a ‘24 Limited. Though mine came with chrome edge running boards, I’ve used the following Toyota dealer’s parts and accessories site for other things:

    https://autoparts.mariettatoyota.com/

They seem to have good prices and free shipping over $75. Could be a good option if you opt for OEM running boards.

    I just bought a 2023 4Runner Limited.
It also came with the Chrome Edged Toyota Running Boards (PT925-89110).
I DON'T HAVE THE ROOM TO PUT MY FOOT ON THEM !!!

Is there any way to adjust the running board position so they sit farther out or a little lower than the bottom of the door?

I am also looking at a set of iBoards IB20RIG4A.
These are supposed to fit the Limited with the extended rocker panels.
They claim they hold up to 500 lbs. also.

    Thanks in advance !

I have the Predator steps that came with the truck, they’re very sturdy but expensive. I see lightly used ones on Craigslist all the time for $250-300.
