If the 4.0 is anything like my Gen3 3.4 I’ll be more than satisfied.

Two timing belts, routine engine maintenance and a spark plug later….322A1DDD-4BF2-42DF-B0E2-0872F90A07C7.jpg

Not my cup of tea, But the Ls is a very capable platform to work with as options are-a-plenty.

Very interesting when I download the manual, looks like its a 7500miles / 6 months oil change engine vs 10000 miles/12mon on 4L V6 on our 5th gens.

    Definitely YMMV.

Fun fact, the 3.0 1MZ V6 had it's original OCI recommendation revised down to 5000 from 7500 miles after the fact due to the sludge/oil gel issue and HyunKia retroactively increased the oil capacity of some of their trash 4-cylinders.

of course it's not often and we're fine here, but just the only "manual outdated" trivia I happened to have.

I adhere to the policy of 3K intervals for the first dozen k miles, 5k intervals thereafter.

Ah man, the 22R was even worse! That damn 22R would eat spark plugs every 250K miles! And those plugs cost a pretty penny! Anyone have advice for plugs on my 4R? Brand? Gap? Should I have dealer install? Do I buy the extended warranty on the plugs? Is it ok to go 250K between oil changes if I use a Royal Purple filter?

I agree with the air filter (or cleaning it if not a disposable one). But why the oil and filter? According to what you say I should change the oil and filter every other week...

    3k is overkill.

    you're safe at every 5k

It's become apparent in the 100,000,000 oil threads that between 5000 & 7500 mi is the sweet spot for synthetic oil changes.

No filter on the planet is able to filter 100%. Dust will find its way somehow in the oil. Change the oil and filter after inhaling a ton dust.
