What mpg do you stocks get at 90 mph?

If you were using your mirrors properly, you should be able to see that jerk coming up behind you with plenty of time to move out of the way. Unless that jerk is doing 100mph. The idea of driving is to be proactive, to keep your head on a swivel. You are not a cop, it is not your job to slow others down. Pass with authority, don't make assumptions about why that other guy is driving so fast, don't impede the flow of traffic. That is all.

That time I had two broken wrists, and was trying to drive myself to the hospital. I'd already driven 15 miles of dirt with the wrists, so figured I might as well continue to the hospital instead of waiting and paying for transport. And people kept brake checking me, I80 ski traffic on a Sunday.

 

If you're pushing your shopping cart around the store and you notice you're blocking the aisle, do you move out of the way? Or do you assert your right to stay in the middle?

 

42 PSI in stock tires would be too much. On E-load tires it can be just right.

 

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about how I drive. You and I both have been driving for a while, and aren't in need of each others' instructions.

 

LT tires require more pressure, for reasons I don't fully comprehend. But, stock size LT tires are supposed to be run at 44 to maintain the appropriate load capacity. A lot of people will end up running lower pressure, though. I ran 35 in stock size KO2's in load range C with good results.

Changing size also affects how much pressure you should use.

Why so high? The tire pressure calculator on tiresize.com recommends 35 for LT285/75/17 on our 4Runners.

 

It is 37 psi cold. 34 front, 37 rear. 42 is after hours of driving. I don't use any formulaes, I go with how things feel. I found the sweet spot after trying many numbers.
I will change things as the weather gets warmer

 

Discount Tire said run 44 psi, cold 44 psi. First I told them I couldn't believe that number for a daily driver. Then I let them do it. It rode like crap, I immediately deflated them.

 

Oh, I hadn't considered that they were warm. That makes more sense.

 

Yeah, they were way off, based on your tire size.

 

Right, I find the sweet spot for mine is around 55-60... on a long enough stretch my runner is reading 22-25mpg

 

They have the best price and service by far, but their technical skills mediocre. Stand over them and tell them what to do. They messed up one of my pressure sensors, and they had to order new one from the dealer. They will go out of their way to fix what they broke, but who wants to deal with that.

They are so damn fast that they mess up things a long the way. I gave $20 tip upfront to that kid next time and asked him to slow down a notch lol

I've tapped mine in triple digits once or twice lol, hard to get speed out of your system coming from SI's and WRX's... but yeah, never long enough to get any meaningful reading whatsoever lol, this might actually be my 1st vehicle I don't take to deals gap/tail of the dragon...unfortunately

Yes, they're cheap, and there's a reason. I'd always recommend them, for a set of tires good service. But, the one out here can't balance tires like my off-road shop. Or, at least, they didn't.

 

That's why I'm not going to them for the free rotation that they provide, don't want to lose another sensor lol.
