Now that Costco had changed their warranty on car batteries, anyone have a better alternative? 36 month prorated is pretty poor in my opinion.

That seems to be the standard nowadays. Last battery I bought for my 2001 (last summer) was from AAA. Price was about the same as everyone else, 3-yr warranty, and their technician delivered and installed it within 30 minutes of my call.

Long gone are the days of the 5 (or more) year warranties.

Didn't realize that they changed the warranty. Probably good that they did. Lots of people would go exchange their batteries right before the expiration, even though the battery was still good. I have used the Costco free replacement warranty 2-3 times in the last 20+ years, so it won't affect my purchasing decision. I will always be a Costco fan and pay a little more for convenience.

I agree, the convenience is the reason why all my AGM batteries are from Costco.

I’m there 1-2 times a month, so it’s convenient to get a battery while I’m there. Their prices are pretty good and the returns are super easy.

90% of my family's groceries are purchased at Costco. In and out in 30-40 minutes about 3 times a month. Wine prices are stellar.

Went up to Paso Robles/Central CA 2 years ago to do some wine tasting during paternity leave. One of the wineries was charging 30% more for their wine at the winery vs what we could buy it for at Costco in San Diego. Beer is cheap too. Coronado Brewing sells 24 packs of beer for about $20 (I think) and at the brewery, I can get a 12 pack for $15 (I think).

I went Discount Tire instead of Costco for tires since Costco’s tire/battery center has sizable waits in line.

I’ve waited 30 minutes before I could see the clerk and return a battery (core charge) once and my other experiences with the tire/battery area have been technically faster but nothing to change my overall impression.

For a battery though, if the price and warranty is right I’ll certainly bite again.

Yea, as much as I love Costco, their tire department seems to be overworked. Every time I want to use them for tires, they seem to be 1-3 weeks out until they are able to work on my car. I've been doing Firestone lately because I have their lifetime alignment deal for the 4Runner.

Coronado Brewing is a great place for a couple of pints and lunch/dinner when visiting San Diego.

Yea, I live 1 mile from their other location (their main brew location now) next to I5 and sea world drive. Our go to spot for the last 7 years for Friday night HH, even more so with kids.
