I am looking for another set of rims to put winter tires, ideally 17 inch. Strangely, there aren't any used 4Runner rims available in the area.

Does anyone know what other Toyota models and years that have compatible rims? I am not going to keep tires, but would like to have rims to be direct fit without adapters.

    Thank you!

Tacoma 17" wheels will be a straight bolt-on, but they typically have greater offset similar to 4th gen 4Runner wheels.

I did some searching, supposedly compatible rims are:

    Toyota Tacoma (1995-2021)
    Toyota 4Runner (2003-2021)
    Toyota FJ Cruiser (2007-2014)

    Can anyone confirm?

Most, if not all Toyota wheels from all years on Tacomas and 4Runners are the same 6x139.7 bolt pattern with 106.1mm center bore. You can expand your search to include 16" wheels and then play with tire size to get close to OEM 17". Use this to compare> . Since you're only using them for winter tires, you could even go with some cheap"er" steel wheels. I always put my dedicated snows on steel wheels because of the better durability in the winter. And, they're cheap.

In my limited research on wheels I found the general consensus was that 16" was too small for the 5th gen, something about contacting the brake calipers.

You are correct. I forgot about that little detail.

You could even look for wheels from the 1st gen. Tundras and Sequoias. Some of them came with 17s. Same bolt pattern and bore.

The big thing you have to take into account is the offset. There are lots of Toyota wheels that are 17", with the same bolt pattern and center bore as a 5th gen, but not the same offset. Getting the wrong offset will make the difference them fitting or rubbing.

This website shows an offset between 13-17 mm for a '23 4R: This website shows the wheel specs on a 17" wheel from a '22 Tacoma (30mm offset): 2022 Toyota Tacoma 17" OEM Wheel Rim W75259MB (autorimshop.com)

This website shows the comparison between a 17x7.5 / +15mm offset compared to a 17x7.5 / +30mm offset, using 265/70 tires: The higher the + offset, the closer the wheel is to the suspension. You can research either of the first two websites to find potential wheels to fit a 5th gen 4R, then use the third website to get a better idea of fitment.

    Hope this helps...
