Hello! I purchased my first 4Runner a little over a year and half ago and I am beyond happy with my truck. It is a 2016 and in need of tires, however, I have no idea what to get. They currently have Cooper Discoverer M+5 245/60R20 tires. Any ideas for good tires that won’t break the bank?

It really comes down to what you will be using your 4runner for. If you want a more All terrain kind of tire maybe some BFGOODRICH TRAIL-TERRAIN T/A might be good but if your just doing daily driving on the road then maybe some FIRESTONE TIRE DESTINATION LE3. Both of these are cheapish options, but with tires you really want to buy from trusted brands even though its a little pricier. The peace of mind is worth it and they would hopefully last longer anyway. Just go on discount tires website and put in your car and what you will use it for.
    And congrats on your 4runner!

Edit: Also since you have a limited I would suggest you swap to 17" wheels like those that come on other 4runners, try looking on marketplace you might find a good deal, and maybe even some that already have half decent tires. The 17" wheels give you a lot more options!

Welcome. KO2s are the jack of all trades and have decent road manners.

Welcome. From the tire size, I'm assuming that it's a Limited 4Runner. If so, I would move to a 17" wheel and you will have a larger selection of tires.

Welcome from Wisconsin! We run Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. Good traction off-road, not loud on-road, great in the snow, good wet road traction. I did like the suggestion above about the 17" wheel conversion to gain a bunch more options, but, that a spendy proposition. Alot depends on your application as to what tire you get. Also try the 'search' box in the upper right hand corner of the forum, the tire topic has been beat to death here through out the years. Good luck.

I got almost 70k off of a set of those Firestones. I would put a vote for them or the Michelin Defenders. I do all highway driving, no off-roading.

Depends on what you use the truck for.

I'm running Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They are expensive but worth it if you want a quiet but strong AT/MT. Really happy with them.
I also like the Toyo AT3 especially on snow/ ice.

For road specific tires? That's out of my wheel house. Pardon the pun

Edit: Just realized OP has a limited with 20" wheels. Ignore my recommendations :sorry:

I saw that the Wildpeaks now come in the oem 20” size. If those were available when I got my wildpeaks last year I’m not so sure I would have swapped out the 20 inchers for 17 on my limited. I’m happy with the Wildpeaks in the northeast here rain/snow/light trail work.

I commute a total of 2 hours a day, all highway miles. I also Uber over the weekends. My 4Runner is a Limited. I would consider converting to 17” in the future but for now I need to stick with what I have and go with replacing the tires. Thank you so much for all the suggestions! So helpful!!!

BONUS CONTENT: it snowed in Tennessee, and I learned how to use my four-wheel-drive! It was a blast!!!

The 7" wheel width of the Limited is limiting. I would like to keep my wheels and go with a 275/55/20 AT tire, but they all require a min 7.5" wheel.
