    Newbie question.
Have a TRD Off Road, Lunar Rock. It has the silver/chrome "Lower Valence Panel Bumper" At least that is what I think it is called. I would like to convert it black. I have seen covers in black, but not from a site that I trust so far. Also, I was told to get it wrapped black. Suggestions?

Go off-roading and rip the silver valance clear off.

Then, have a body shop order you one in black!

I order from 4runner lifestyle. They have the valence covers (front and rear). Here is the site https://www.4runnerlifestyle.com/co...er-black-lower-valance-front-rear-replacement

There’s another very recent thread here in which someone compares them and posted photos of both. He gave a pretty detailed review of both if someone can find it.

Save your money, and just mask it with a plastic sheet and masking tape, and paint it. I just grabbed a can of plasti-dip and I was surprised how well it came out. I couldn’t reach the clips with my hand to remove the silver valence, which is why I decided to paint it on the vehicle. The rear bumper is pretty easy to remove so I was easily able to go that route.

The 4runner lifestyle one is thick like abs plastic. It's more matt in coloration and looks cheaper than OEM.

OEM is much thinner and more gloss.

I just went to the dealership and got the OEM after 4runnerlystyle sent me the wrong part. Glad they did. I like OEM more.

If I did it again I would just paint the silver one or make it black like @5six some other method. I painted a similar thing on a different cat. Turned out great.

I went with OEM as well. Ya get what ya pay for. Learned my lesson way too many times.

The only problem with painting the silver valences especially on the front is rock chips, eventually exposing little bits of the silver are going to shine through.

If you have a pavement queen a wrap or paint may suffice. If you actually do any odd roading at all then you'll want the black molded version others have mentioned. The wraps and paint just don't survive very long offroad and you'll me left with silver scratches.

It's a TRD Pro clone minus TRD exhaust and Fox suspension.
You can get OEM from the dealerships. They charge $850 for parts and labor though o_O

Agreed. I think the silver contrast is what makes the TRD OR package so good looking.

Why are you not installing yourself? It's not at all difficult.

I found the clip frustrating af. My hands and arms were too big to reach 13 clips, not to mention re-install.
I've had both my valances off, both times I removed bumpers. Then the clips came off and went back on in seconds, no breakage.
Mind you my 2016 has no bumper sensors :p
If buddy wants a shop to do it, I understand even if he's not injured

That's valid. I removed the rear bumper for install, but managed to leave the front on and just remove fender skirts to get my hand access to the clips. I don't wanna do the front for some time. PITA.

I wrapped the valance, it was a pain in the ass to get off. It was my first time wrapping anything, but came out pretty good.
Also wrapped the small trim piece in the grill.
