I need some help/direction from the membership. I purchased a Coastal Offroad front and rear bumper as a Christmas gift for my deployed soldier son secondhand. He returned home and we had it installed this week on his recently purchased 5G SR5. The shop has an exceptional reputation in our area. We went to pick up his rig yesterday and were told the TSS sensor was disconected during the install (it was on the floor board). It was on the drive home we became aware this would trigger a notification on the dash that could not be overidden. We were not told prior to the work, this would be necesarry.

    1) am i correct only the dealership can recalibrate
    2) is it unreasonable to expect the shop to pay for that recalibration
    3) Are there other solutions to his problem
    4) is one relocation bracket recommended
    5) whats the most economical solution - he’s working with a Soldier’s budget

Well that armor directly blocks the TSS sensor. On all 4Runner (someone chime in and correct me if I'm wrong), is located right here:

That bumper directly blocks the TSS sensor. The only way around it is to relocate it above the Toyota lettering or to cut a rectangle into the bumper.

It is directly behind the new aftermarket bumper. Surprising they just removed the sensor and just left it in the vehicle.

I think C4 fabrication made a relocation bracket, Unsure of the compatibility with that bumper and if additional adjustments set up are required.

I cannot recall the user name but one member had some success adjusting the TSS after some front end modifications. If I locate that thread will post for reference.

RumHamRunner73 - I would really appreciate it. My local shop wants $782 to do the calibration and that does not include the relocation bracket cost. That’s $1000 my soldier doesn’t have.
