If so... can you specify which brand and what your thoughts are?

We have a local Opti-Cost Pro & Ceramic Pro Elite dealer in the area. I'm leaning towards then because they have many 5 Star Reviews, they're local, price is right, etc...

    TIA

I have the top tier IGL one that the detailer baked on. It’s awesome…..even rain melts caked on crap right off.

I used R1 Coatings, it works great at making it easier to clean your vehicle. The shine is great also. I did my wheels and that makes easy to clean them. Tar, bugs, bird droppings and worms come off easily. Pain in the butt to prep the vehicle and do, but love the outcome. I guess no different than a good wax job except a little more permanent. I had dealer ceramic coatings on another car, that stuff sucked. Dealer did all the cars on the lot, so no one had a choice about not having it done.

I use opti coat on all mine. Do it myself for around $75 a car. It last for 3-5 years depending on if you park it outside and it’s in the elements day/night. I used to detail cars - not sure if I’d pay someone $1k to do this job. It’s all in the prep vs putting the product on.

That would be because dealers don't do true ceramic coatings. They use "spray on / wipe off" junk that "utilizes ceramic technology." The average teenage minimum wage bozo can do a whole vehicle in 5 minutes.

I have an F-250 that I had a local veteran owned business do. They used Feynlab products (I got the one just below top of the line). They did the entire truck to include headlights and wheels. It’s been three years and still looks brand new, but given the use the truck gets at the ranch, cleaning the truck is so, so easy. I use my vehicles as they were intended, but I’m also OCD about maintenance and immediate cleanup after, and this professional ceramic makes that cleanup a breeze. Mud rinses off the wheels with a garden hose nozzle and I don’t have to brush it out, etc.

I’m still on the fence about keeping my ‘23 TRD ORP (about to hit 5k miles), but if I do keep it, I’m taking it back to these same guys for the professional prep and application.

My local Auto Detailer suggested to wait for a new product called C6 which will be out any day.

It’s stupid expensive and mostly labor. But, like anything involving a professional, there are steps that the average inexperienced customer could seriously fuck up if they don’t have the right tools or knowledge.

The typical person runs their car through a meat grinder wash thinking they’re improving it’s condition. Forget a proper hand wash, clay, decon, paint correction, clean application environment, multiple even-layer application of product, and proper curing procedure for that specific product…..for a professional outcome, alot can go wrong that could cost you more to fix later.

Like my DIY brother, I could probably do a 90% as good job as my detailer for a fraction of the price. But after seeing the labor hours he put in to achieve that finish, it actually made more sense for me to pay to have it done lol.

He was telling me the pro grade stuff is also trickier to work with and less forgiving than the cheaper DIY options from the same company. But I wouldn’t know first hand.
