Who here has or previously had a ford raptor? I'm looking into 2019-2020. Test drove a few. Some seem to gear hunt more then others...is there a tsb, recall, or even a tune that helps with the crazy gear hunting of the 10spd?

    The salesman aren't much help.

You would probably be better off going to a Raptor forum.

Yeah, just figured I'd ask on here maybe someone previously had or still has one.

I've been looking at getting rid of my F350 and getting into a raptor. I test drove a couple of 17s and noticed I guess I would call it hard shifting. The salesman said there was a TSB for it. He also said they can have the transmission control module reflashed to delete the previous owners driving habits and have it re learn yours. He may have fed me a line of bullshit and I haven't looked to far into it.

So today I test drove another raptor. This time a 2019 with 90k miles, which is to many miles for me but it was right down the road from my parents. Might as well.

Shifted very hard the entire drive. Also thought it was funny that it was running when I showed up. To many flaws for the price imo ($46k).

I absolutely love to get a raptor. The size and the power is awesome. I wish I could get this type of drive outta my 4runner:)

Were you able to determine if it has issues with starting cold?

No, but I heard of dealers doing this because of turbo issues.

Still in the market for a truck. Drove a couple 2019 raptors, and I dunno what I think. They all seem to shift hard/aggressive under normal driving.

I might just sette for 5.7 tundra.

Before getting the 4runner I wanted a raptor(in 2018) but at the time they wanted a 20k markup. I still think they are really cool but I am glad I got the 4runner instead. It's not as fun but reliability is better. I have been seeing the raptors are now having issues with cam phasers which is a $4k fix and is a flaw in the design with no permanent fix.

I've had 2 so far - going on a 3rd soon. Both Gen 3's. Completely different league in terms of fun and performance depending on what you use your vehicles for - but where I like my 4Runners the most (I've had 5 5th gens) - is the peace of mind knowing I can jump in it and drive it to the tip of Chile tomorrow with no hesitation. That said, the area I dislike my 4Runner most is driving long periods of time loaded down through hills/mountains, which is where the Raptor shines. That truck gobbles up miles.

How has the reliability been in your Raptors?

I drove a 2021 Saturday. It did drive much smoother then the 19 and 20 I drove. It shifted very nice. But the dealer wouldn't work on the price, even with paying cash so I walked (they wanted 62500, I offered 60k)

Anytime I go to test drive a vehicle, I always ask them to make sure the engine is cold. A warmed up engine will hide engine issues like a stuck of failing lifter or piston slap etc...

If I arrive and it's warmed up or running, I'll walk away. Don't need their problem to become mine.

I've bought both of them brand new and sold both around 10k - so I am probably not the best to ask. That said, I did buy a first year 2021 Raptor and other than small minor things (mainly NVH) - 0 issues. And I drove both trucks HARD. Much harder than my 4Runners.

Not surprising. Dealers can tend to be quite fond of their Raptors - similar to any TRD Pro

For how much a Raptor costs, I’d get a 5.0 Tremor with a dealer installed whipple. It’ll be a much better truck.

Its been on their lot for over a month(at the same price). One thing I really liked was its a certified pre-owned which comes with a 7yr 100k warranty. So if the cam phasers did fail its covered. Who knows maybe they'll call me back.

Too poor to buy anything now
I dunno. I saw a video of a Cybertruck where they slammed the door on a hotdog and it cut the hotdog in two pieces. Man I gotta have one of those trucks. Pass me another beer.

OK, I'll never get within hotdog length of a Cybertruck.
