Yes mine seems way more prominent on the left — so it seems anyways. It drives me nuts and almost makes me feel sea sick

Is it really that bad? Not trying to be rude but maybe just not worry about it. New headlights plus change it. Morimoto or Alpharexx are popular options. Seems like bigger things in life to focus on.

Read the whole thread… I have opened the headlights up and taken pictures (and retrofitted). Had the opportunity to cut it off but figured the Toyota engineers were smarter than me

when you feel like there is a blind pulled down half way in your field of vision when driving your brand new 4Runner in the dark. That is a huge problem.

I have had 3 other people get in the drivers seat and drive the car up the block and they say the same thing without being prompted.

Wouldn’t the only two solutions be to get new headlamps or cut the tab?

Yes. They will always be there unless the tabs are physically removed. Not really any other viable solutions.

I have a 2023 4 Runner with the same issue. When I shine the lights on the side of a building to check it appears the left headlight is just a hair lower than the right. If I remember correctly this was done to minimize the blindness of oncoming vehicles.

No, they are out of adjustment. There is a formula / procedure to adjust correct height.

I didn’t notice any of these weird shadows until I lowered my beams after I leveled my front end. When it was set from the factory I never saw it. It’s pretty annoying.

If I'm not mistaken, the tab creates a means to make correct headlight adjustments. Unfortunately, one small side effect is the very small spots that aren't illuminated.

As far as the drivers side being lower than the passenger side, it's simply to help not blind oncoming traffic. When I installed my aftermarket headlights I followed one of the numerous online videos to get mine properly adjusted.

Now, I have to do the same for my Heritic amber fog lights. They are so bright I will get flashed by oncoming cars if they are on.

Anytime the suspension, tire size, addition of bumpers/winches/skid plates, and other things happens, the headlights need to be re-aimed. We are all very much aware how many people don't do this and it's not much fun.

I had the dealer adjust the headlights. They know of the issue and the easy fix is simply to slightly raise the headlights. They raised mine slightly and all is okay now.

    Hahahahahha
    Omg, that’s not the fix.
Now you’re going to blind income vehicles.
Go measure your headlights now, see just how high they are.
Those are built into fixture, only way to make them go away is to modify them.

Pull up to a wall, they are still there.

Blind oncoming traffic or deal with a small, darker spot. Hmmm. Tough choice. I think I’ll compromise every else’s safety so I am slightly more comfortable

100%. Big proponent of properly aimed lights. Pretty tired of the people who just “aim them higher” to fix their issue. I have to do all the night driving because my wife can’t see at night due to the shitty LED low beam swaps and improperly aimed lights

Just purchased a used 22 pro, and have the same issue, didn’t notice this since I bought during day.

When I turned headlights on first time I experienced several high beam incidents, turns out dealership adjusted lights to compensate and I was blinding traffic, I quickly corrected the headlights, and now the tabs shadow are clearly visible . Weighing my options, thinking of aftermarket or maybe a pair of full leds from a 24.

Still going to have the same black spot. It’s a designed feature, not a defect or something Toyota deleted later.
