Hello. I have a 21 4runner trail edition. Im getting quite a bit of wind noise. I don't know if it's the stock Yakima roof rack or the Weathertech window vent covers I added. Any thoughts? I didn't know where else to turn. Thanks for any consideration.

I have the same style Yakima rack, and it definitely makes some noise. It's not bad but it's definitely noticeable with the radio off. It will also affect your fuel economy. I actually leave mine off most of the time for that reason.

Those window covers could be making some noise as well. If they're easy enough to remove, you could take them off just to see if they're the cause.

Edit: the rack has a wind fairing, correct?

I have AVS window covers and feel like they added a ton of noise, especially if there is the slightest cross wind

I have the WeatherTech window visors and I noticed noise coming from them immediately after installing. The noise seems to be coming mostly from the drivers window.

It bothered me quite a bit for a while but I adjusted and don’t notice it much any more. After adding the UpTop Overland Bravo rack, the noise from the window vents blends right in with the noise from the rack.

I like the window vents and the rack and have adjusted to the added wind noise.

    Cheers,
    Bob

I only notice wind noise when the window is open.

I really appreciate the feedback, everyone. Thank you. Any tips for adjusting the Weathertech window visors? I like them but the noise is more annoying than you would think.I also wonder if other visors are quieter.....

You’re driving a body-on-frame vehicle with the aerodynamics of a Rubiks Cube. It’s going to be noisy.

If they are the in channel visors, try to figure out if the noise is from air leakage. The in channel ones can prevent the window from properly closing and sealing. I use the AVS surface mount for that reason, and I don't find them to be particularly noisy.

To adjust for excessive wind noise, take the window visors & roof rack off

Coming from a Jeep Wrangler softtop - the 4 runner is quite as the night to me, plus accelerates and rides so much smoother. Like driving a luxury car compared to the JKU.

I definitely noticed an increase in wind noise after adding the window wind deflectors. To me it's worth it for the functionality, but if I were super concerned with the noise I would take them off. That roof basket can't be helping either.

When I first bought mine and it was completely stock, I was surprised at how quiet it was inside, other than engine noise, even compared to my Volvo.
