Shit cameras/ shit infotainment screen / no wireless appleplay/android auto/ the 4wd knob on the SR5 isn't manly at all/ the heated steering wheel only heats part of the steering wheel up.

I’m not sure this is a complaint but the headlights are so bright that it makes other drivers think the brights are on. There’s another thread dedicated to this topic, but that’s the only thing I would even be annoying to me, constant paranoia of thinking I’m going to induce road rage in someone else. Otherwise I have zero complaints about my 4Runner.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
The radio controls on the steering wheel. In every other vehicle (and other Toyota's too!) volume up is the up button, volume down is the down button, etc...

    But in our $50k+ trucks:

    Volume Up = Right
    Volume Down = Left
    Next track = Up
    Repeat track = Down

I know there's a mod for this, but it's always sold out! I lost count of how many times I went to turn the volume up (by pressing the up arrow) only to skip to the next track! I usually lose my shit when that happens. :annoyed:

Too many areas for mud, dirt, sand, and chunks to become lodged in on rear wheel wells and a real pain to clean even with a power washer. Needs a driver side grab handle. Interior plastic is too easily marred, scratched, etc. Interior floors should have been designed to be sprayed out. Leaving the rear window down for ventilation on a nice day is really just asking for a thick layer of dust on every fricking interior surface. Headliner should be a wipe-down plastic material. Shit plastic where robust bumpers should be front and back. What is the point of the flimsy plastic engine cover?

This drives me insane. My 4R is new to me as of a couple weeks ago but I'm constantly hitting the wrong button.

    Taco to 4R Mod
Lack of dash storage/cubbies. My 2nd Gen Taco had what looked like an old ashtray to the left of the steering wheel, another open face cubby to right(where the Parking Brake release used to sit I think), a deeper drop cubby in the center console directly below the AC controls, plus 3 cup holders of which 2 had removeable inserts that turned it into another console-wide hole if needed.

    (the biggest problem)
    1) Too many and never ending amount of accessories availability.

    (Could / wish to improve)
    2) Better acceleration (with out compromising reliability with turbo / super charger)
    3) Better stopping power
    4) Better reminder of 4WD when I enter paved roads.
    5) 2wd mode in my Limited (just like 4th gen V6)
    6) Limited to have regular bumper along with parking sensors.
    7) TRD Pro to have a low profile roof rack with reduced wind noise.
    8) TRD Pro to have a high flow yet quiet side exhaust.
    9) All trims to have moonroof as optional. (Wish my Limited and TRD Pro didn't have moonroof roofs)
    10) Good safety ratings (including both driver and passenger small overlap crash)
    11) Proper LED highbeam. May be even improved led low beam without the annoying dask spot.
    12) My 2021 TRD Pro to have turning indicators on the mirror so people on the side can see I'm going to turn.
    13) (Maybe) Electric power steering.
    14) Dual fuel tanks on both sides (not single side) like Prado may be (87+63)150L or like LC70 troopy (180L).

Maybe will edit the post if I remember more)

    Edit -
    15) Out of place steering controls after 2020

Oh, the Highlander also has a little hidden spot in the back by the jack where I can hide a shotgun or an SKS. Nowhere to hide a long gun in the 4R...

The lack of options on lower models. Shouldn't have to get a premium model just for a sunroof and heated seats, etc. My former Nissan Rogue SV had those with cloth seats. Let people choose and pay accordingly. Just saying for everyone's benefit.

    1. I'm still having issues getting the Homelink to talk to my garage door and security gate.
    2. MTM camera resolution is poor (but I'm still glad I have it).
Other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

    Yes, the headroom is atrocious.
    Especially on sunroof trims.

I cannot understand the lack of lighting in the trunk area. It sucks and I can never see whats in there. The lights on the liftgate suck too.

The poor airflow from the vents is really annoying and the stinky exhaust coming in when the back window is down.

The dark black interior. Unless outside light is very bright it's impossible to find anything inside...thinking about painting the release button for the glove box white just so I can find it! May have to see if I can find a wrecked 4Runner with the light-colored interior panels and installing them in mine.

    Rattling plastic in the interior.
    Weak dome light
    Weak tailgate lights
    No A-pillar grab handle
    No center console hand brake
Seatbelt buckle likes to get wedged between the seatback and B-pillar
Lack of enclosed storage cubbies in the rear cargo area.
