First Cybertruck Crash vs Corolla

17yr old Toyota driver at fault. They lost control going around bend, hit dirt on side of road and then overcorrected back onto the road into the opposite lane. Nobody injured.

Cybertruck barely looks dented. Lol

 

Kinda looks like the wrong side of the Cyber Truck...... So of course barely dented.

In 2022, Tesla made all their service repair manuals free. No more expensive subscription required. I don't know if it's still like this, but could help the owner get the vehicle repaired.

How great would it be if Toyota also offered all their repair manuals for free.

 

Really? I thought Tesla’s thing was to lock down general repairability where only their own service centers could work on them. I wonder what prompted their change of heart?

And regarding the cybertruck, I think it’s fair to say they look just as good after a crash as they do brand new

 

How can you tell the Tesla is damaged? It always looks terrible.

 

Dang that cyber truck is totalled even if the airbags didn’t deploy the way the pannel is pushed in I’m pretty sure they would have totaled it based on that alone

By the way, Tesla owned this CT. It wasn't a personal vehicle.

 

Hardened stainless is ridiculously tough and I expect we'll see some "fender benders" where one party has a write-off and the other breaks out a Scotch Brite pad. Harder whacks are going to be a panel swap or just left like that; there's no tapping it back out with suction cups and little hammers like a typical tin can coated with soft, thin paint.

Once you get over the weirdness it's a good looking and practical design within the severe bending limitations. We're just used to jellybeans.

 

How many of these are even on the road yet, I cannot imagine that the repairs for a CT are cheap this truck might be totaled…

 

No I have experience in the auto body industry and I’ve seen other Tesla non cyber truck models written off by insurance for far less damage than that. There is a reason Tesla insurance is so damn expensive so yes i literally am basing it off first hand information

 

You really aren't basing it off first hand information. We're talking about the cybertruck, a fundamentally different kind of vehicle than any other vehicle that has ever been produced. You might be correct but you can't just say "Someone is true for a model Y therefore is true for a CT" That isn't first hand information.
