Rough Country has come a long way since their early days. I wheel with guys who have the newer stuff on their Jeeps and it's not bad. If RC is your budget then go for it. You can get a much better set up for almost the same cost but again that boils down to budget.

A lot of people are brand whores.

I currently have a 2018 ORP with Ironman foam cell Pro's on it with their UCA's, a 2019 SR5 that I took an eibach Pro-truck kit off and replaced with OME BP-51 kit with Total Chaos UCA's. My opinion of these are OME BP-51 is the far superior kit but 3 times the price of the ironman. Ironman is fine, would I buy it again...probably not. Eibach was total trash in my opinion and would never put on a vehicle I drove everyday. All are my opinions. Best way to determine what kit to buy in my opinion...Determine what your uses and expectations are first, then your budget. If you want a lifted ride that rides, handles terrible and cant be aligned properly then you can satisfy all of that very inexpensively. You want some off-road capability and ride is important then you are likely to spend $2-5K depending how important each variable is.

So what did the OME BP-51 with the Total Chaos UCAs set you back?

I believe I was a around $4k with the Total Chaos UA's. I installed all myself, installed very easy, took a little over 5 hours with a helper. Biggest pain was the reservoir mounts (small hardware with my not so nimble fingers) ;-)

The OME BP-51 must be significantly better, as I sort of followed the process when you upgraded to the Ironman Foam Cell Pro, and initially you were quite impressed and were highly recommending it.

    KDSS or not?

I've noticed the same few people always bashing rough country on this forum. Other than being made in China or Mexico, is there a known problem people should be aware of with these kits?

It depends on what kit your actually looking at. As some rough country kits come with larger spacers instead of springs.

I was thinking more about coilover kits. I'm not a fan of spacers. (not looking at RC personally, just curious why they're hated)

Coming from the Jeep community, RC had the reputation of being called Rough Country for a reason - the ride was considered about what you'd expect from an entry-level lift kit. Rough. They may have improved of late, though.

Thanks for the response. I wonder if it is the result of the type of valving used. My choice would be to avoid digressive valving because of the typical roads that I travel on.

I'm currently using fox trd pro shocks, which seem to be bashed on here as well. I absolutely love the ride quality. They are soft but since they are 2.5"(width) they eliminate the sway. I plan to upgrade to dobinson springs for a little more lift. Then they will be perfect.

Yeah, I got a great deal so I swapped out my eibachs to try these out. I'm happy I did.

I've thought of doing that also, but heard that they don't work with KDSS for whatever reason, so I didn't pursue the idea.

Do you know why the Pro has about 1" lift in the front compared to other models? Different spring or slightly higher spring seat?

Id say the seat is higher(look at attached picture) The front coilovers are marked for left and right. So there isn't a side to side lean. The rears are also 1" longer then my eibach pro truck shocks where. When I measured the rears I came up with 9.12" of travel.

I can't visually see any reason why those wouldn't work on a KDSS equipped 4R. Any thoughts on that?

The only difference around the coil over area on KDSS vehicles and without is the sway bar connection, which is on the LCA with KDSS.

If you find a good deal on trd pro shocks I'd try it out. Kdss is sways bars. Shocks are they same...right?

Right. I edited my post while you were responding. I'm pretty sure SR5 shocks & springs are the same as OR, but I could be wrong.

I did not switch, you must have me mixed up with someone else. I have 2 Runners, 1 has Ironman and 1 has BP-51. Neither has KDSS

I didn't say you switched. I was referring to your statement above - "My opinion of these are OME BP-51 is the far superior kit but 3 times the price of the ironman. Ironman is fine, would I buy it again...probably not." Your initial rating when you first got the Ironman was pretty high. Now you say you wouldn't buy it again. I took that to mean you thought the significantly higher price of the BP-51 is well worth it.

1st thing I would say its dependent on where you live. The metals or corrosion protection they use is terrible for cold weather places that use salt on the roads. They won't hold up very well.
2nd, QC has been suspect in the past (poor welds ect..)
3rd, they are a extremely rough riding set up. (more so than 5100's)
Finally, the UCA's appear to have issues with the ball joint
All in all, it's your wallet, if that's what you can afford... it's your ride. just do as much research as you can.

Sorry misunderstood...My point is, you don't know what you don't know. Like all reviews its just opinion. Good to me is bad to someone else etc... Main reason for my statement would be at this point in my life 2x the price getting better ride quality, tons of adjustability and re-buildability is worth it.
