    I didn't realize until I looked this up - $300+! Wow. That really better show up on the butt dyno.

    If it moves the torque band lower, then it sounds like an attractive mod to me. I wonder if the ECU will try to account for the new characteritics. Does the ecu try to “fight” it?

    I don’t see how mechanically tricking an ECU helps any vehicle in the long run.

    Just look at Boris's link to Tacoma world. It shows you ain't dropping to 1k rpm. Nor are you feeling 1HP but hell if you want 1HP more go for it.

    Any mod that affects ECU tuning should be used with a good dose of caution. At the very least, you should also invest in a way to monitor what it's actually doing. The ECU is constantly adjusting timing due to conditions. Too far advanced, too far retarded is bad. Ask me how I know...$30K Audi engine...I know, NA vs. Turbocharged, but the point is BE CAREFUL monkeying with the ECU.

    Its not the horsepower its the torque and getting it sooner. Long runner intake manifolds arent new (which this spacer makes the oem manifold "longer").

    To each their own. If you wanna spend money of "performance adders" or lights, suspension parts, fancy audio. Its all a waste of money but fun tinkering.

    I just saw a post on aesinnovate ig page. Its a dyno graph from when they tested it on a 3.5l tacoma. It does drop the torque band 1k rpms an adds 18ftlbs Interesting(but this isn't on the 4.0, sooo)

    I can tell that some of you all aren't into modifying engines, and that's cool.
    It's not so much that anyone is trying to know more than a global manufacturer. It's just that we try to find ways to improve on what they've given us without having to follow government regulations OR the general public. Only a certain, given few will be interested in doing something like this and the benifits it may or may not bring in the long run.
    Me for instance. I'm very well known in my area for installing car stereos. Now, most people are happy with the stereos that come from the factory. I myself feel like I can (and always do) install something that's more enjoyable and better than what the factory put in it. But that's just me and the few like me.
    So........to each his own.

    Hmmm. I recently bought the urd y pipe. Only because I caught some waste of lifes trying to cut out my factory cats. Long story short after installing I notice a decent increase in fuel mileage (2-3mpg increase). I also don't get the horrible rotten egg smell from the exhaust. I dunno there's little things the manufacturer has to do for the government in which the aftermarket doesn't have to worry about.


    I'll start a thread for the y pipe after more drive time.

    Now you're really f@cking with the ECU. Nothing wrong with it, but highly suggest investing in ways to monitor ALL parameters.

    Very fair statement. In genuine interest, I would love to see a dyno to see how the spacer improves performance on a chart. That might help them sell more product. I also have a Yotawerx tune and would love to see that plus the spacer on a dyno. If anyone ever does one please post it so we can just deal with the data and not insult each other. :)

    Maybe we should define what we consider a tune vs. mods? I consider a tune something that is introduced using a computer. Changing ECU or TCU parameters. A change. I consider a mod something that can be bolted on. Exhaust, CAI, etc. So, tell me what you did to "tune".

    That's exactly what it is. But even with a tune, you're still modifying your vehicle.

    I can agree with that, but si ce this isn't my '11 Challenger that we're talking about, my butt dyno results suit me just fine.
    But that's just me.

    Kdmax, ott. Yotawerx. All tuning companies that have very positive reviews. I'm running kdmax 9.0 tune. I love it. Really helped with getting up the hills/mountains without the crazy gear changes.

    Also the 4.0 found in the 4runner has a high compression ratio(atleast from all the info I can find). Which MIGHT benefit from a "long" runner intake manifold.

    This was my reason for asking about this spacer in the first place.

    I don’t know what the compression ratio is, but it’s a port injection engine that doesn’t require premium fuel - which means it’s not high compression.

    It's 10.0:1, not the highest by any means. Some oem turbo engines come a little higher
