    Hello folks,
CEL came on today, removed aftermarket locking gas cap and reinstalled original cap. Its the first time seeing CEL after locking gas cap installed 2 months ago but car has been sitting in driveway for 3 1/2 weeks now (away on travel).
I drive it for approximately 60-70 miles but CEL is still on.

I take it it won't reset itself ?
Dealer trip to reset ? (I don't have obd tool)

I know the stories about aftermarket gas cap, decided to put locking gas cap 'coz we would be away from home for long time. I live in good neighborhood but there's always a chance on bad elements coming around good areas.
    Appreciate your kind responses.

If you don’t have a OBD scanner, disconnect negative battery cable for about 30 minutes and you will be good if the problem is/was the gas cap

When the problem is fixed the light will shut off.

If you clear the code and the problem still remains the light will light again

Did it work? Or, did the light come back on?

    Its cleared.
Took it to dealer as it was on my way to my daughters house, former coworkers son took it in right away. He says it usually clears within 5-10 shutoff/start if its just gas cap issue. I said I've driven it for more time than 10 shutdown/starts so reset was all that was needed.
I wish I had time to prove the battery disconnect but I threw away the locking gas cap and don't want a repeat of this issue.
All is well now and thanks again to all assistance. That's what makes forum like this shine !!!

Did the tech do something or did it clear on its own after all?

I had that happen on 4th gen. Bad cap, stopped clicking when tightened. CEL went out as soon as I got new OEM cap on.
