Thanks Jim, I appreciate the kind words. I'll do my best to describe it. I was on Highway 95, near where the Colorado River "becomes" Lake Powell on the north end. The closest "town" (not an actual town, since this is a very remote area) to search for on google maps would be, "Hite Utah". I was facing west-northwest, just south of the White Canyon Road turnoff (probably not marked...most roads around there aren't). I'm attaching two photos to try and show it. I don't know if the rocky spire has a name, I can't find one listed on Google Maps, Gaia GPS, or any of my other apps. Using some (very) rough calculations on the desktop screen, I believe the mountain in the background is Mount Hillers, but that was by lining up my ballpoint pen on the screen with the dirt turnout and rocky spire to find the bearing, so not exactly scientific. Hahaha. There are other mountains, both closer and further than Mount Hillers that it could be, but Hillers seemed to be the most in line with my wild calculation.

PS- On the map photo below, just south of the turnout where I took the photo, you'll see a squiggly line to the west of 95, where I took a drive up a side road towards "Blue Notch". That's a must-see road if you get out that way. If the snow wasn't so thick I would have kept going to explore more of the area. But even as far as I got, the road and views were spectacular.

You could spend the rest of your life exploring southern UT, even if you're a newborn.

Jedi5150, I am a fan of outdoor photos. I find Ansel Adams's photos of Yosemite to be true works of art. Your photo is every bit same quality with attention to framing and lighting-truly a masterful photo!
    Keep that camera handy.
Thank you for the location tips.
    Regards,
    Jim

Thank you both for the kind words!

Yobruh, I use iOverlander and Gaia GPS for my two nav apps. IOverlander for finding places to camp, and Gaia GPS for everything else. And for hiking I use FarOut. Oh, and I don't use the canvas bag anymore, but they're for holding your garbage. It's so you can put stinky trash bags outside the vehicle instead of inside, and if I spent more time in remote places, I might have kept it, but I ended up "camping" in civilization (like Walmart parking lots) a lot more than I thought I would.

I just found this section, thanks to @McSpazatron, and saw your pictures; all great. Most notable is Ember; what a good-looking animal! Thanks for sharing.

What’s the utility of the window visors in Colorado? I gather it’s for cracking open the windows during a rain? It’s doesn’t rain here much

Thanks! Great trip. I’ve said it before, but love your build , and your approach to building it.

I got them because I knew I'd need them while living on the road. I spent about half a year living out of the 4Runner with my pup, from Mexico, to Maine, to Washington. It helps a lot with rain and snow, and also allows me to vent the truck while sleeping without people being able to tell the windows are down. Fogged windows stick out like a sore thumb when you're trying to stealth camp. Now I live in Washington, and they are great for the rain, as you said.

Even in areas without rain, they're super handy if you have a pup. Being able to crack all 4 windows to keep it a bit cooler inside for the dog while you run in a store is handy, and I hate people passing by seeing my windows down.

Oops! Accidentally posted under someone else's tread. But deleted it from there and moved it to its own tread, Greetings from India..., where I will continue adding trips. Thanks for the suggestion; it's a good one, and thanks for the kind words regarding my effort to get out.

Just seen these pics, and also agree!! Ember is quite the handsome dog! Haven’t paid much attention to dogs until my wife got a Chihuahua puppy recently. First time having a dog! The new little chihuahua has been a fun addition. I still have to see if she’ll become a travel companion, but I’m fine if the puppy becomes a homebody too.

Thanks! And congrats on your new companion! They have a way of making life far more interesting. But also an added element to logistics during travel, etc. I've had so many dogs over the years I almost can't imagine what it'd be like to not have one. haha
