I'm looking to widen my stance on my 4 runner Sr5. I love the new trd pro wheels in black however the oem offset doesn't provide the look I want and also I don't like wheel spacers. So, I found some aftermarket replica trd pro style wheels with a 0 offset. I also don't want to lift the vehicle. I'm looking for a slight poke. Anybody gone this route got any pictures of aggressive stance on 4 runner 5 gen? What tire size should I go with?

    These are the specs.
    Toyota TRD Wheels 17 x 8/9 Auto Rims PCD 6 x 139.7 ET 15/0 CB 106.1 Set of 4 Black
    Two Available Options: 17x8 15-ET and 17x9 0-ET

Zero offset will only push out 4mm more than TRD Pro wheels. That's 0.16". Not sure that gets you where you want to be.

Many owners who have gone to -10 offset and above have had to deal with rubbing issues due to the larger sweep radius. Definitely doable but requires trimming and depends on tire size.

I think I'm around - 22 offset with 285 70 17 m/t (stock +16 with 1.5" spacer). There was rubbing then cutting, drilling, but no rub now. It's on a 2.5"/2" suspension lift oem uca. Negavive offset does increase your scrub radius so yes the more negative you go the the more cutting and adjusting is going to be needed. Also be aware you are increasing the wear on your suspension joints but with the added benifits of looks and slight roll stability off road.

If I go with the trd pro oem wheels with 1.5" spacers what kind of damage can occur to my suspension. Trying to gauge the risk vs reward

Just wear out the ball joint and axles faster. Depends on how you drive too just adds more stress to a natural stress point. I don't know if it stresses the bushings though. It basically stresses a wear area faster.

Spacers do not cause damage to suspension. Mine have been on for 3 years. If you want a good stance, you’re going to want -13 offset + spacers or a more negative offset.

This was back when I was on stock wheels with 285’s and spacers. Current wheels are -13IMG_3481.jpg

I believe adding spacers mainly adds stress to the bearings.

yup. but an equivalent offset does the same thing (I love when people rail on spacers but run a -38 offset wheel, the effect is the same...spacers do involve more mechanical fasteners thus more potential failure points though).

Well, yeah. Any time the wheel moves outward, whether via offset or spacers, there’s that increase in stress.

Running 0 offset wheels with a 1.5" wheel spacer is going to cause fairly substantial running even with stock tire size. Increasing the tire size will only amplify that the rubbing. Here is a good video explaining scrub radius as well as some comparisons in offset and tire size.
