Has anyone done a remote start on a 2024 TRD Off Road yet? I have one lined up at the dealer but a remote start for the wife is a must.
The dealership said nothing has changed since 2023.
Accessorides doesn't list 2024. They also say the 10th digit in the vin has to be N or P. This 2024 has an R.

**Just as an update I called Accessorides this morning. They have not seen a 2024 so they can't say for sure their current starter will work. But he was also told that nothing has changed to the 2024. He was confident enough I am going to give it a shot.

It's going to take some time before it's confirmed that the current remote start options work for the 24 Runners. The US Limited and Pro Bro do have it.

I sent them a message yesterday and haven't gotten a reply. I'm going to try and call them tomorrow.

I don't know that many members own '24's yet.. we are still getting new members that just bought 23's still. A few 24's but not too many yet.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Even if the remote start is an option on the 24' models, the down side is: The moment you open the door, the engine cuts off and you have to re-start the truck.

My Tacoma had remote start and it was set up this way. There are aftermarket services/apps/hardware that allow you to remote start your 4Runner.

Maybe we're thinking about this all wrong, I mean Toyota is known for their legendary durability and reliability. This 4Runner owner saved a bunch of money on remote start by just cold-starting it and redlining it until it was nice and warmed up :laughing:

(By the way these cold start straight-to-redline videos make me cringe inside!)

Just as a follow up I did put the accessorides remote start on. I also went with the Car Link option and everything works fine. I did have to set my car up as a 2023 on the Car Link app since 2024 is not an option but everything works fine

Nice follow up for those who will be getting '24's!

Although my gf got her 2016, I installed remote start for her Xmas gift (last weekend) with the Car-Link App. It worked well. It's the keyed version so it stays running until you tap the brake pedal. If you jump in while running and turn the key to "on" you can just take off. Kinda nice.

Let's hope she doesn't hit unlock 3x on accident before xmas haha!

Thankfully our Canadian spec 4R TRD ORPs come with factory remote start. Wife loves it. I would have nothing but factory. As an auto mechanic I have never found an aftermarket remote system that didn't cause problems down the road. Even if it's a "best quality" kit it's only as good as the installation. Have seen many absolute butcher jobs. Have ripped out and tossed many due to various no start and compatibilty issues. I prefer to leave my OEM wiring harnesses unmolested and just cringe at the thought of cutting and splicing into factory harnesses for anything if I can help it. That's just me but I do have a lot of experience.

Ask the guys at 12Volt Solutions. US based. That is what my remote start is

I just picked up a 2024 Pro the other day and it does have remote start capability through the Toyota App. I guess it's free for 1 year. I'm not at all interested in anything that requires a subscription, that's car related, except for XM radio that is.

Once the free 1 year ends, you can still use remote start with the physical key fob

do Canadian ORPs have auto headlights as well?

If that's the case, I think US Pro and Canadian ORP are the exact same truck since they both have factory remote start, dual zone climate, auto headlights, etc.. whereas the US ORP does not have any of these
The only differences between a CaORP and a Pro would be the "extras" added at port (fox shocks, tires, roof rack, etc...) that can always been added later on or upgraded with better components on a CaORP

Edit: does CaORP have JBL audio too?

Yes, we know, thank you for reminding us Peasants :anonymous::D:D

For anything less than a PRO or Limited trim (apparently US models), we need to ADD remote start. There are several aftermarket options available. Some even have an app so we can use telematics to remote start, but as far as I know, most - if not all utilize the same "3 presses of the key fob" function like OEM remote start..

Btw, us TRD owners aren't total orphans; we DO get free wifi for a period. And I can check my tire pressure and odometer on the Toyota app (big whoop)

I keep getting different stories on this. The info I read from Toyota indicated that even the 3 press FOB method wouldn’t work after my free subscription runs out. (BTW: I already opted for both Remote Connect and Safety Connect when my script ends, primarily for insurance purposes). Just curious if anyone can confirm the FOB still remote starts after letting the script expire??

Mine does on my ‘22 Limited, but it is a little twitchy with limited line of sight range. I still like it and use it.

i can confirm that remote start on my 22 still works with the key fob (but not anymore through the app obviously) and i never renewed the 1 year free trial.

I highly doubt the 23 would be different

I've installed 2 Accessorides and their kits are 100% plug n play. No cutting or splicing whatsoever. All T harnesses and their connectors appear to be OEM quality.

That's where I draw the line. I get satellite radio as it's not Toyota but don't ask me to pay for any option that my 4R was equipped with from factory.

Yes my '22 TRD ORP has auto headlights and auto high beams. It has the dual climate control and KDSS but not the JBL sound system nor the pro suspension. But everything else. Canada is a much smaller market we seem to only get the more optioned 4Rs. That said up here we canucks have never seen a 2wd 4R.

That's a big plus plug and play but it's the compatibilty issue that remains. Very few aftermarket remote start systems will fully integrate with factory systems without causing some sort of hiccup.

Do you have a link to this? It sucks that my wife’s Acadia has remote start both with the fob and the app but my ORP does not.
