I remember my dealer told me to keep my stock wheels because they came from Japan :)

A guy shows up and says what he has is the top tier and you expect those who disagree to not respond? You know this is the internet, right?

I'm not gonna say an ORP is the sweet spot or better than any other trim level because I agree, buy what suits you and enjoy it. But if you're gonna make the statement the OP made, you need to be wearing your flame suit (ie. he started it, someone else is gonna finish it).

I have an OR. My wife wants a 4R and I would get her a Limited if I could. A lot less thinking required when bad weather hits.

Treat her to a GX460... basically same price and is more real lux than the Limited.

I like the looks of the 4R better. Plus this would be her third 4R over the years.

To be honest, I am glad my ORP doesn't have that, I have a beefy knob instead. The Pro has those buttons, a Limited feature.

I would have looked at the Limited but I am not a fan of the chrome and I wanted the manual shifter for the 4WD. Full time 4WD would have been nice as well as the ventilated seats but oh well. The Pro was too much in cost for me so the ORP was the one I went with.

Are you saying your wife isn’t capable of as much thinking as you?

It seems to me that if the amount of thinking required related to part time 4WD is too much, then perhaps one shouldn’t be driving in bad weather.

I love the sound of the 4.0 when it first starts up. I tell my kids that this is how truck engines sounded like when I was a kid.

Some things should never change. Alas 6th gen is coming soon and they are sure to do something about that wonderful melodious engine sound.

Talk to me. Why is it a better buy? Keep in mind, I hate the spindle grill. The new gx 550 is on my radar, but I'm going to keep my 4runner until the wheels fall off. .. but I might need a second SUV

GX460 is a very fine vehicle. I'm sure the V8/6spd is smoother, more refined, and it does have higher low end torque - but it isn't significantly faster, if even faster at all. HP/weight is nearly identical 301/5126= 0.0587 HP/lb vs. 270/4805=0.0562 HP/lb. 0-60mph for GX460 is listed at 7.8 sec / 110 mph max speed (electronically limited). 0-60mph for 4Runner is listed at 7.7 sec / 113 mph max speed (electronically limited). Ground clearance of the GX460 is ~1.5" less (8.1" vs 9.6" for the Limited). You certainly get some nice upgrades for the added ~$9,000. However acceleration/speed is not significantly different - at least not $9,000 different. However, the GX460 does have 1500 more lbs of towing capacity - this could certainly be worth a big chunk of the extra $9,000 if you tow. The 4Runner Limited has some features that are nice to have - but I could have lived without. I specifically wanted the full time 4WD and real leather seats so paid the extra cost. Going $9,000 higher to get into a GX460 wouldn't appeal to me - but I certainly understand how it would to others.

44% of all marriages end in divorce, which is sad until you realize that means that 56% of marriages end in death.

I’m curious why they didn’t put the 6speed from the GX in the 4Runner?

Tongue In cheek response. Gets even better when a 6 yearer goes through an annulment. I am not even gonna layout the particulars on this one.

But in this crazy ass market, the Limiteds are only like $2k cheaper than a GX460. I would honestly spend the little extra for the V8 and 6-speed.

At least in my area, Limiteds are marked up like hell, some even come close to being as much as a Pro. But, if you shop around you could find a GX460 without any mark up and maybe even below MSRP. I've never had interest in a Limited, but I do like the GX460 a lot.

I love it when I'm walking through a parking lot and I hear a vehicle start and can tell it's a Toyota truck. When we do trail runs, and get back in the trucks after a stop, it's like an orchestra of beautiful engine sounds! :D

I picked the Limited for not having a V8. V6 is a better choice for my use with the same fuel tank. 4runner having lot more ground clearance is a big deal for me here in CO. I love 4runner having a full gas tank skid standard from factory. Few more reasons not picking the GX460. Price was not part of it.
