    For whoever is interested. Was aiming for a 7.5k oil change here.

    Respectfully, any oil sent in under 10k miles on the sample is going to be similar or same result, no matter the oil.

    So Toyota additives come into play after 10k miles?

    I know oil threads are cheese…
    Was just curious.
    I change my oil just to change my oil and then.
    If my rig sits a lot or gets used for short trips often, I change my oil under the manual’s recommendation or at 3k, or 6 months or less if going on a road trip if the oil has been sitting in it. My Venture basically sat in the garage while driving Tacomas. Those days are gone. Maybe a low mile second gen, maybe. Haha.
    I’ve been using Toyota oil for the heck of it.
    It may be a waste but oh well.

    Pennzoil Synthetic. Not the ultra synthetic. I am going ultra synthetic 5w-30 this coming summer. Wanted some numbers for comparison. So this will be a long running comparison

    This would be more meaningful if you posted the total mileage on your T4R. Also what your oil change interval is.

    you’re not gaining anything from this report other than possible unlikely engine issues on your low mileage ‘22, but you do you.

    Because having a baseline is meaningless. I would have loved to see my 200k engines with a baseline test when they were good. Some people

    Blackstone themselves say, "Oil is oil." From their FAQs page:
    ==
    What’s the best oil to use?
    Ah, the million dollar question. We are an independent lab, so we don’t make recommendations. It has been our experience that oil is oil, and either petroleum or synthetic-based oil will work well for just about any engine.
    ==

    My interpretation isn't that there's no difference between oils. It's that there's no significant difference in wear or performance as long as the oil used meets the manufacturer's recommendations and is changed at the prescribed intervals. We feel better buying what we feel are superior brands, but the cold, hard truth is that the engine couldn't care less. It's kind of like TV resolution - 4K, 8K, what's next? There comes a point where the human eye can't see a difference anymore.

    Interesting... moly on stock TGMO 0w20 is 721ppm and starting TBN 6.8 (VOA's on BITOG) ... I mean its just me, but I will be sticking with the Toyota oil IMO. Call me old school but moly will always be the anti-wear additive of choice for me ((shrugs))

    One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
    Agreed, in the old days(I’m old)I would do every 3K but now with the modern oils that are far superior to the old stuff I do 5K which might still be over-kill. I coordinate changes with the odometer readings on all my vehicles, 10k, 15k, 20k….etc…easier for a old dried out brain to remember.
    Project Farm verified my thoughts on the age of the oil as well, Todd tested brand new Rotella and again after a year in his Ram diesel and it showed no degradation at all.
    Wow you have 40k already! My 22 garage queen has just a little over 5K. I only drive it when the wife comes along. BTW, I’m retired.

    Never had OCD over engine oil, certainly never shipped it off to a lab...change oil and filter on a regular basis, address any leaks if they come up and you'll be fine. Evidence-based practice...over the years, I keep vehicles to around 200k miles, sometimes way more. Never had one engine issue. I'm just an average idiot but we have a real live petroleum engineer in the family who's done the same thing,same results.

    Wouldn't be afraid of it. Walmart brand oil is actually perfectly fine too. Don't lose sleep over oil lol

    Agree, including not sending oil for analysis unless you plan to keep the vehicle, as I do, until either it or I can't get out of the garage anymore. :cool: In that case, having a baseline as the miles go by (my '07 will hit 250K miles in the next few weeks) may tip you off to actual or potential issues. Is it necessary? Arguably not, but I'm willing to invest $30 every 100K miles for the potential of it being the proverbial canary in the coal mine.
