Rusted OEM parts on 2019 4Runner or replacement parts?

So they not only swapped out the undercarriage parts but they also swapped out your doors? Wow!

 

lets do some housekeeping here

• engine is yours per toyota inspection
• an insurance company but not toyota identified the rusty bits as aftermarket but the insurance company told you to pound sand
• the doors have been swapped out for seemingly good doors

so let’s break that down here. the body shop wanted what you claim was the well taken care of underside of your 4runnner. so the body shop did a full frame swap took the time to mount your engine onto rust frame with rusty exhaust and swap your doors for seemingly good condition doors for good measure.

if actually dealing with a chop shop then i’ll have to congratulate you for finding what has to be the absolute worst run chop shop anyone can imagine. the chop shop that went through all that trouble to swap things out and then give the evidence back to the victim.

 

It's too easy to blow holes in this story as others have already done.

skepticism has not as of yet been a deterrent, so I wouldn't worry about it. Attention, positive or negative is what drives these threads.

That is some commitment to swapping by the repair shop.
I can't even get my regular garage to put back all the screws on the skid plate while reinstalling it after finishing work.

Playing Devils Advocate here. To me a more likely scenario would be that the shop swapped the engine/ecu out of OP's 4R into the body of a 4R from Illinois that is rusted out. Then also swapped easy to find VIN's to match the engine's. This way OP gets the rust bucket with thier original VIN/Engine and shop can sell a "clean" 4R for more $$. Also kinda explains the new key situation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

But the OP’s current stolen 4runner doesn’t even have that much rust. What’s the motivation? This might be a job for Magnum PI.

edit: wait a minute…. The insurance company is in on the racket!!!!

 

I want photos of all the vin numbers on this 4R that don't match. And, I imagine you don't have the title yet, as you are still paying for this mystery vehicle, but would still be interested in what vin number is on your proof of insurance.

Check the VIN inside the rear dif cover. One of most overlooked parts that get swapped at chop-shops.

 

If she has a rear diff cover, they probably swapped in a dodge rear end. The we’d know for sure they chopped the 4runner.

Then again, that would earn the shop some points for both workmanship to get it all running on the first try, and craftsmanship for the fab work needed to swap in a rear axle with a diff cover.

 

This is great Saturday morning entertainment. Kind of like watching Mighty Mouse in the 50's!

Guys! I've been hoodwinked. I filled the tank in my 4Runner last week before going to my cabin, and when I got into my truck today, the gas gauge was on E. Someone has swapped my fuel out and replaced it with empty space. There is also 250 additional miles on my odometer. I even found a receipt in the cupholder from some suspicious place called Mobil that has my name on it. These con artist guys sure are good!

 

I was banned for one month, came back today and rushed to this thread...No action LOL! Where is OP?

Ahh the dark side. I never created an account but I rarely even browse it anymore because it's just a sea of ads. I guess that's how they fund it and makes me wonder what I'm giving up by being on here pretty much ad free - maybe just selling all of my browser and device info?

I just got back from suspension also and missed some of the fun.
Funny thing is.....I dont know what I got suspended for.
I tried to log on and was told that it was a rules violation....no more information than that.
Guess I better not do whatever that was again?
