Those Gobi awning brackets are giving me sticker shock. Think it would be feasible to do without? I'd much rather have something like the Ironman quick detach setup.

Same, the Gobi brackets with the Iron Man QD's was way way way more expensive than it needs to be. But, got dang it makes taking it on and off so easy.

I can't remember who makes it, but there is a company that makes metal rings that come in sizes that fit the Gobi bars and have a flat side to mount an awning. I think the Gobi mount/Iron Man QD is a more refined solution.

I think you could skip the iron man QD's, you'd just need a wrench to take the Gobi brackets on and off but I can't imagine would take more than 5 minutes.

(Edit to add so were on the same page, I have the Gobi Awning Bracket mounted to the Iron Man QD attached to the awning)

I'd rather keep the QD mounts and bodge something together to clamp it to the rack; guess I'll pick an awning then just start messing with it.

In the meantime I decided to try these rectangular lights:

I dig em', had Morimoto had their big bangers when I bought my KC's I might have had squareish ones too.

Tundra is in the shop as it got some minor damage from a Prius who couldn't figure out my lane isn't their lane also. Wife's got the 4Runner so I got a Wrangler 4xe for the week as a rental. I actually like this thing quite a bit. Way better than the Bronco I rented last year.

Positive thing is the driver admitted all fault without any games.
