Hello folks, Well I purchased the 2018 4runner and I'm very happy with it except:
It has 3 rows of seats. The second row seats do not fold down flat. I use the 4runner alot to sleep in. I'm thinking of pulling at least the 2nd row out and building a platform in that space. I haven't seen anyone do this with these glider seats, it looks complicated. The 3rd row is flat and I could use if ever have passengers. Appreciate any feedback/comments.

If you’re tall, the 3 row models provide more length to sleep due to the way they fold. If I were you, I’d pull the third row and build a platform there instead. Allows for drawers that are still flat with the second row

Hi...thanks for that..problem is the 2nd row do not fold flat, almost a 2" rise. These seats have glides so can move forward or back. Nice but more components to removing 2nd row.
Thought could keep 3rd as do lay flat. And if need for passengers are there. 2nd are big and take alot of space. We'll, thanks for discussion.

I don't mind the slight rise as long as my head is on the high side.

Interesting, but that would be a really flat drawer.

Yeah but more useful than just a platform. Could do a pull out table instead

    Did you remove any seats?

I have 3rd row as well and there's very little info on anyone removing 2nd row on a 3rd row equipped 4runner. It does look complicated and potentially hard to reinstall.

There's some useful info if you drill down from here. It covers both Gen 5 seat types. (Third row is Rear No. 2).

If you are going to build a platform, might as well build it for the full length. If you examine it, the 3rd row does not completely fold flat either. It has an angle to it as well.

I was looking for something like this but can't seem to find one for 3rd row equipped 5th gens.
