Yes, thank you to all who served. I served during the cold war, so I have seen nothing compared to the veterans that have served in the last 23 years.

I’m not a vet, I was born in 76’ but my dad served in Nam. I just sent him a text telling him thank you. I appreciate those who serve.

The gentleman that I work for flew Hueys in Vietnam. The stories he tells... I thanked him today also.

@Latrans we appreciate your dad's service also.

JP4 - We used that fuel in B-52s. I have not thought about JP4 in years. I do remember saying the same thing you did in my days on B-52s. I did love the smell of burnt JP4 in the mornings. For the rest of my life, I have enjoyed the smell of Jet A in the mornings.

I have also worked on Bell Helicopters for a while - 206B-II, several 407s and two 427s. The Allison engines on the 206 & 407 the ignitor can be heard easily. The Pratt engines on the 427 are not easy to hear. All of the jets that I have worked after the B-52 (commercial and private) one can't hear the ignitors, but todays annular combustors light off with a boom. Big engines like the Boeing 777 noticeably have a boom at light off. Advancements in technology.

All peace time fun and games for me! Loved the sound of incoming Hueys! "Let's pop smoke and get the hell out of here"
