Fluid Film after a couple years OK? Anyone against doing it?

If anyone lives in Minnesota, I just had my new 2023 TRD ORP undercoated and rustproofed with black RP-342 by Carson Undercoating in North Cambridge (https://www.carsonundercoating.com). They did a great job and I'm very happy with the product. I purchased the package that includes 10 years of free annual inspections with reapplication, if needed. MN winter salt plus Calcium Chloride on the gravel roads in the summer is as bad as it gets.

I have a new 2024 4-Runner and I called Steve about doing Fluid Film on it. He said he would let me know and that it would have to be after hours. That was a week ago.

Are you guys still happy with the work he did? And how often do you go back to have it re-applied.
I am up in New Windsor, NY. Abbot Automotive (26 miles North of me) wants $750 to do it and says I have to leave it on a Friday and pick it up on a Monday.

Not sure how far of a drive it might be but there is a guy in Mass that does often on weekends.

edit: I meet him thru Tacoma World.

 

750 for fluid film makes no sense.
It's something you can do over the weekend on your own.
You do not need to get every nook and cranny. There are some specific points that you must do and then inside/outside frame and you are good.

 

I would wait till Steve gets back to you. Does a great job and you are not that far from him. It’s a Friday and going into the weekend sometimes it’s hard to get a hold of anyone.

 

I don't know if I already commented earlier in this thread, but I FF all of my personal vehicles, and the student driver cars at my business. My guy here in SE Michigan charges $375 for my 4R, and $300 for cars. After I get 4 done, I get the 5th one free. On my 9-7x, it has completely arrested the rusting process, and I am on year 4 of getting it treated, so of course it was a natural decision to get it done on my 4R.

Whoever you go with and how ever much you pay, do make sure they drop the spare tire and you might want to take your own skid plate off before you go. Good sprayers get all the nooks and crannies (above spare tire, inside gas cap, the lips of all the doors/hoods/liftgate, under the hood, etc etc. Make sure you ASK before you get fleeced. Just my $.02

Follow-Up:
Drove down to Summit, NJ tonight to have Steve undercoat my new 4Runner with Fluid Film. Took about an hour and a half and came out fantastic. Steve is a really great guy besides really knowing his stuff. There is a great restaurant a short distance from his location as well as a kick ass ice cream place across the street.

It only took me about an hour and 15 minutes to get there, but after seeing the results I would have driven 3 hours to have Steve do it.

Reasonably priced and Highly recommended.
