Rusted OEM parts on 2019 4Runner or replacement parts?

Yeah girl really. This is a perfect example of an auto shop taking advantage of female customers. I mean they even painted the thing a different color and thought you wouldn't notice???

 

He’s right! Holy cow. The dash is definitely not a 4runner dash anymore. And the A-pillar is different too. And to add insult to injury, it looks like they didn’t even fix the body damage in the wheel well picture you posted. They didn’t replace the mud flap either.

 

I placed the original damage on wheel fin to show all on forum only had a small tear to replace.

 

ok now what about the door jams with tracker law enforcement stickers
All four door jams have on them and never before?

 

So what actions would you proceed to take with Progressive insurance the collision company they setup for repair the consumers affairs / the state attorneys office or the police to file???

 

I wonder how they could have gotten all those rusty parts installed without clear indications of them having been disassembled after having rusted. There would be tool marks in key spots with bits of rust knocked off.

Can you post photos of your entire car from a few angles? Especially the entire front so we can see that registration sticker from outside. Does it look more like a Honda? Maybe a Ferrari?

I had something similar happen to me on Thursday. Someone swapped out my pizza box with a large meat lovers with an EMPTY pizza box. All evidence is currently pointing to my fat gut, but the case remains open.

 

Does the empty box now have stickers that weren't there before?

This could be a radio theft crime ring. Some crooked shops will take out the stock radios that are valuable to resellers and in place they will put in an crappy counterfeit head unit that is made to look like the real thing.

If your 4runner has unreliable Bluetooth or slow response someone likely swapped in one of these fake radios. The sure way to tell is to hold down all the buttons around the screen at the same time and if it's real it will show you the start screen. Otherwise they stole your oem radio.

 

I think RCI has come out with a head unit shield that bolts to the dash. You can't see the screen anymore, but no one can steal your head unit...

Well your wrong about the trolling
I have since had insurance company take photos as the stickers I’d number are from after market company and my stickers on my doors all four are registered to another person . From a dealership out of Illinois!
I also went back to the original dealership I purchased my 2019 4Runner New and they confirmed they do not use after market anti theft companies or stickers and on the doors that they replaced on my car they all have edge plastic which was not on the 4Runner I purchased new from dealership.
The doors are all replaceable per Toyota manufacturer from 2014 to 2024. Just not sure why the body shop. These plastic guards on my doors collect dirt and are an eyesore to view so this may be the reason why my doors have been stolen by the body company.
Either way I now have a 4Runner that is not from original dealership I purchased and am still paying for today.
My next steps since insurance company cannot really help me is to file a police report and the state of Texas inspectors or DMV will inspect my car.
This helpful advice came from a group that help’s insurance companies with car thieves.

The undercarriage of my car having caked on rust now makes sense, they replaced with a 4Runner from Illinois, this car is not my car.
Insurance company is now trying to avoid repercussions but it’s too late. A good auto attorney specializes in this chop shop swapping parts and body parts will provide justice. Now that I have proof of the car doors being registered to a different person from a different state.

 

I was told yesterday to have my FCC ID remote and key replaced and programmed $380 the body shop wanted me to bring my OEM second set it most likely to reprogram to open my doors since my OEM 2n backup key remote will not open my doors now.
As I stated I’m going to file a police report turn this big named body shop over to the police as they have thieves stealing parts and body parts.
I now have proof and can go to the police and an attorney.

 

Yes they did and I now have proof on doors registered to someone else in Illinois.

Did you check the vin number on the frame behind the passenger front wheel as i mentioned earlier?

Its much better than the daily threads about tires, lifts, shimmys, and where to buy threads from lazy idiots who needs their hands held or doesnt know how the internet works.

 

Weird. If they gave you a different vehicle, the VIN number on the 4runner you have will be different. Next time this happens, just compare the vin numbers (on the dash or door frame or other places) of the car you get back from the shop, to the vin number that’s on your title.

That way you can avoid all of the “investigation” steps you went through and just tell the shop they gave you back the wrong car. If they deny it, then you can go straight to the cops with it.

edit: why is your insurance trying to “avoid repercussions”. If your car was stolen, they need to pay up! And currently, you are in possession of stolen property, which I’m sure somebody wants back. I don’t see how your insurance can avoid paying you for the loss of your vehicle.

edit 2: How does the vehicle run after you got it back? Seems like the shop does pretty good work for a complete frame swap and complete body reassembly. Usually there’s some sort of problem that needs to get fixed after such a huge job. Kudos to the shop if they got the job done right (of course, no kudos for the theft part).
