    Hello all!

I have a 2023 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro and I want to install more USB-C single or dual ports for my iPhone 15. How do I know which cable or port is used for Apple CarPlay? Do you guys have any recommendations of products to install? Thanks!

    Lots…
It’s the single usb port by the cubby. When you plug in it will recognize your iPhone. Just add a usb adapter to that port. :)

Consider a wireless CarPlay adapter and the center console wireless charging tray. I have these in my ‘23 and it’s awesome.

    Hello All.

imma about to get my first 4Runner. I asked in a general thread about several things, and indicated I wanted wireless CarPlay (I need to get an adapter for sure)...but, @trail_runner_93 and @ToyotFan. I'm 50, ok? I'm (painfully, dreadfully aware that) I'm at the event horizon for old man all thumbs, piss, and vinegar with emerging technologies...but I have a question. A clarification actually.

Do I need the wifi option on a 4R that is OEM Apple CarPlay equipped in addition to the aftermarket CarPlay wireless adapter?

I waws told in a more general potential purpose focus group or something. All was fine and well, then he just flipped out and said "I'm going to have all your e

Basically, lets say I pick up a 2021 4R with wired OEM carplay, and got the adapter attached from Amazon. not speaking of how and where your speakers connect, I'm wondering

    No worries- I’m 60

you do not need the WiFi hotspot if that’s what you are referencing.

    Phone. Adapter.
In the model I listed above plug it in to the OEM CarPlay port. Connect WiFi and Bluetooth to the phone in settings. That’s it.
    Good luck.

Not a worry at all; we are here to help each other.

You won't need wifi for the wireless CarPlay adapter to work. You plug in the USB cable from the wireless adapter to the USB port under the climate controls, and your iPhone connects to the adapter over Bluetooth and it's very easy to pair the two. If you get the wireless charging tray for your center console it simply plugs into the 12v port in the center console.

I've thought about getting this a few times, especially when it was on sale for $39.99 earlier this month. A few questions for you:

    1. Do you plug into an adapter or do you have a USB plug in the console? If you use an adapter, which one do you use?
    2. Does the charge keep up if you're using the CarPlay for navigation/music?
    3. How warm does your phone get while charging?

I've been using a tray with a wireless charging pad that came separately. My experience has been that the phone either just keeps up with the charge it has or gets slightly higher or lower. If I'm going somewhere that takes 60-90 minutes, the phone also seems a little warm. It's not warm when I use a wireless charger at home or the office, but I'm also not navigating or playing music then.

From my experience my phone will charge faster than the usage when using the wireless CarPlay. My phone gets warm but nothing concerning. My wife has the OEM wireless charger in her Acadia and my phone gets about the same temperature when it's charging there. The charging console tray plugs into the 12v that's in the center console so you don't even see it. It also has an additional USB-A port in case you need to charge an additional device.

Does the tray have a 12v plug or a USB plug?

The tray has a 12v plug and it will plug into the 12v outlet in the center console.

Thanks runner...I didn't figure, but then I still just don't understand why it has to "OEM" to get wireless CarPlay...I just don't get it. I don't much cotton to how proprietary it all is...and how they get to ding at you just because you made a choice about your seat belt. I'd still be driving a stripped down Xterra (love so much about Nissan, but they just can't figure out how to engineer vehicle electronics for the upper Middle West...but that wasn't what got her...Bessie.

Squirrels! Ate through a $50 wiring harness...that is just flat out no longer available. Now I'm biding my time in grocery getting, no "overdrive off button" having, and just generally diminutive 2008 Honda Pilot. smdh

sorry, thanks for the prompt and considerate answer
