My 5th gen 4R is developing condensation on the the A/C line under the front of the engine. This causes my skid plate to rust and also stains the driveway. Is there a fix for this?

You could extend the hose past the skids but it's regular condensation so it has to drain.

There is a Tacoma AC Mod on Tacoma World. It extends the line away so it doesn't drip on the frame. Its a simple purchase from a TW member, like $40 bucks or so

Thanks for your reply, but my problem is not with the drain line, it is the A/C hose under the front of the engine. It develops condensation after the a/c has been run.

The ambient air is warmer than the contents of the A/C hose.
Similar to ice water in a glass. It's sweating and normal.

Not much you can do about that. Spray some wool wax on your skid plate.

You think only salt water/contaminated water causes corrosion?

I’m surprised the sweat from the lines is enough drip onto the skid plates, then to the ground. If it’s hot enough to sweat, then it’s also hot enough for the same amount of water to evaporate pretty quickly. Unless maybe you’re idling a lot and the car doesn’t move for long periods of time with the AC running.

If it’s enough water to have caused rust, all you can do is get rid of the rust, or spray woolwax or similar type product all over the rust-affected area. You might want to have a good look at the underside, as I suspect you may have more rust than just from that one area. Once you have rust, even the vehicle getting rained on will stain the driveway.

Drill a drain hole in your skid plate so it doesn't collect water. :notsure: If you actually use your skid plates, you'll be removing them at the end of every 4WD season to flush out mud, hammer out dents, and touch up rock scars anyway.

Maybe install some HVAC line insulation on the lines in question

Must be humid where your located. I barely get any water out of the condensation drain with the AC on in the summer with humidity less than 20%.
