Okay, this is a first for me.

The problem: My USB (which plays all my music) only shows about 500 songs. I've had it for three weeks now and I'm 99% sure that it would show all 1200 songs on the USB drive.

I thought maybe it was the new USB drive I put in (I copied all songs from one drive to another). But alas, the same situation. Only 500 songs show up.

    The Troubleshooting I have done:

    1)
Moved all data off the drive to a folder on my desktop (didn't matter which, since their dupe's), then I performed a full format of the drive. Not a quick format. It's formatted for Fat32. I did this for both drives.

    2) I moved all data back onto the newly formatted drives and verified the total count, just under 1200 songs. I played random songs and they all played fine. There are no corrupt files

    3) I re-seated the USB drive in the head unit.

    4) Verified that my H/U & S/W do not need updates.

    5) Changed the "Browse" view from Folder to Album to Artist to Genre to Composer. Still....only 500 songs total.

I'll try doing a quick format and setting it to NTFS. I don't see how that could fix it though, since it was working on the other format and then randomly broke.

I have not done a factory reset of the head unit, because, well...I couldn't find out HOW to do it. I find it weird that this randomly started happening. Has it ever happened to anyone else?

Surely it's a simple fix and I accidentally hit something to fuck it all up. I'm willing to admit my part in screwing it up! I just want all my freakin' songs back.

I'm mainly pissed because I got my new Kicker speakers put in today and I wanted to rock out to Metallica on the way home. But oh no. No Metallica jamming was done in Borracho's truck. It was a saaaaaaaad drive home.

Did you try to put songs in different folders? Like create a couple of folders and put let's say 300 files per folder. Maybe there's limit for number of files in one folder?

I'm doing that now. My Google research pulled up that same solution on the Tundra forum. I'm creating three folders 500/500/200 songs and we'll see if that resolves it.

I swear to God this wasn't happening when I picked up the truck three weeks ago.

    Update: Problem solved.

By putting the songs into three separate folders (500 is the max), that fixed it. I put the USB back in, selected "Artist", then played a song by that artist and selected shuffle/folder.

I was able to view/listen to all songs.

Probably why I haven't faced that problem. I have multiple folders and play by the folder depending on my mood of listening :D

I have had iPods in both my T4R and my 2015 Tacoma. Both have the same Entune unit. The iPods are identical and have the same identical songs on them. I want to say I might have around 1500 songs on them. Maybe because it is an iPod is the reason I have never had a problem with playing any song I want. The iPods are plugged in to the USB port next to the charging port above the center console.

Does it still sort when you have it set to shuffle between the three different folders?

Yes, because I have it set to Artist, not Folder. I also have it on shuffle. Prior to this fix, the songs stopped with Artists starting with J or K I believe, now.....it's the entire alphabet. I tested it, it played Metallica, Queen, ZZ Top, Beastie Boys, etc... It went from A to Z.

I can't see the full count like I used to. Before this happened I could see "Song 76 of 1026", but now I can't. That's fine I guess, because they all show up.

Copy that. This is gonna help me a bunch as my drive is a hot mess. Could never get any sort of actual shuffle going on. Want some Mike Bloomfield you get that Animals and so forth.

Going to make some changes And get in the game.

    Thanks for the info!
