What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Rainy day, rotated all the Mickey's on Mickey's in the Runner garage. Plus Blaster brake cleaning.

 

Thanks. I just had a thought. If I don't have auto-on headlights (no 4Runners do, right). How will this sensor benefit me? Don't get me wrong, I love modding and slapping accessories onto my truck, but only if they work!

Ahhhhhhhhhh, yes. I do want this. I had this on my Tacoma and miss it. Buying it now on Amazon.

 

As far as I know the one on my video may not work for your 2023. I think someone on this forum had a newer part for 2020+ 4Runners. Please check compatibility before ordering.

Did my first oil change after the "break in" period (1500 miles in this case). I broke the new Fumoto valve I was ready to install and will probably just stick with the stock drain plug for a while haha

 

It should make the head unit display illumination be controlled by the ambient light instead of by the headlight switch.

 

Okay, you have a 2023. Did it work for you?

 

I'm still looking into which switch to get. There are a couple alternatives.

 

You don’t have it. If your lights are on your stereo and dash will adjust when you go cover it. You just have the plug. Be careful if you remove the plug as the wires are underneath. If you drop the wire it’s hidden in your dash forever.

Yup. That's the part that I just ordered. I'll keep everyone posted on when/if I can install it.

 

Just gently pull on that plug and have some needle nose nearby to hold it while you clip in the new sensor. It’s easy to pull too hard and undo the first plug. Hope it goes well! Really enjoy it working at night.

I know that's a recommended approach, but I sure don't like sliding the jackstands into place while it's teetering on the pumpkin.

it only needs to be off the ground just high enough to get the stands under. So if it were to teeter, it can only move a tiny amount. It’s got nowhere to fall.
