    *BUMP*

Anyone considering a Utility Rack should at least look into the Baja Utility Flat Rack.
Very happy with the build quality, aesthetic, and functionality of this awesome (and customizable) rack.

I’m considering fabricating one, then take it to get powder coated or use an automotive paint.

The design is simple and I weld, shouldn’t be too hard.

What do others think? She’ll out $1000-$1600 or building your own for less than $500 if you could do it, and have confidence you’d do a great job.

My guess the powder coating wouldn’t be more than $250, the 1” steel tube 16g would be $30 or less, 3/16 plate steel ad have the brackets bent $50 minimum charge at a shop. Stainless steel bolts and other hardware $40, steel mesh $25

My other thought was to start making racks and selling them. There has to be 500% GM on these things. The Gobi rack is nice but a joke price if you ask me.

I downloaded the instructions and it doesn’t appear that drillig is required. The front supports rest on the plastic trim that’s in the channel of the roof. Page 3 of the attached doc
